COD V BF3 V RO2

Post by Bauer »

Howdy gamers

We have some games on the way out and Im somewhat maybe slightly keen for some online shooter action.

My question to you, who has an opinion to offer, is to ask if any of the above would be a better pick for a noob over the others. Im not buying more than 1.

My thoughts already are that cowaduddy is more close quarters action and less players on the map. Bee eff tree has a more open world with more players and has jets and tanks and shit. Red Orchestra 2 is more a thinking mans shooter but is likely to be harder to find a game.

How is my assessment? Of course I have no idea really. I havent really got into a shooter since Quake1's DM maps. good times.

So am I on the money here:
COD - is like Sin
BF3 is like Hz-Lab
RO2 is Smithcorp

I'd say your assessment is correct.

COD and BF3 will no doubt prove popular. RO2 on the other hand is a mystery, as RO never really took off in Australia. If you wanted a decent game, you'd need to play on an overseas server. Whether it takes off now i have no idea.

Personally, i'll be going down the BF3 route.

BF3 for me. But i've always been a fan of 1942 and BF2 so I may be a little biased.

From memory, since BF2 being released in 2005? there have been about 400 different versions of COD and about 2 versions of battlefield.

COD is the ADHD of FPS games. I do enjoy the occasional COD title, but Battlefield is without doubt the better title. No comment of RO, never played it.

RO is a thinking mans game. That's probably why it never really took off here, too many kids with ADHD who don't understand patience.

I think that is what concerns me. Of the 3, I think RO would suit me more. I know it has just been classified MA by the board so we get the full release here - but if it doenst take off, it is hard to find a game. It is likely to be the only one under $50 too :)

There is alot of interest in RO2 from a couple of forums i frequent, whether that translates to a good solid aussie community is another question entirely.

 - and Red Orchestra is the only one of those three examples I've ever bothered with - a bunny-hop free zone. RO2 looks interesting and while I think it might have a smaller player base here, it would be a more discerning group over 12 years old playing it. :D

There are times in internet life that you just know you nailed it with no basis of fact. That was one :D

And RO2 is looking good. I didnt realise there was a single player element to it. Could be short, maybe not. But at least it is there. I might pre order it. Sounds good.

Steam $35 gets you a pre order, $45 get you the same and access to the pre release beta ($10 for 2 weeks extra play)

With RO2, there's also apparently a further discount for owners of the first one. Might be drawn into it by the savings!!!

RO2 would probably appeal to me by the sounds of it. I was once a huge Operation Flashpoint (the original) fan because it was tactical and not ADHD focused. Some missions I played online would take hours to complete.

I have BF3 pre ordered as well... did months ago. The thing with Battlefield titles is they have a good balance of quick easy fun without being to ADHD orientated. In the past I've had some pretty awesome clan wars in BF2.

i'll probably get both, they deliver different experiences.

BF3 allows a little more creativity with a team. MW3 will allow me to just jump in and blow the crap out of people. AA-12 for the win.

That said, I won't have BF3 for a while. About to build another gaming desktop, mainly for Skyrim but I will play BF3 on that. As I just moved house I can have internet again, that isn't mobile broadband.
COD on the console, BF3 on PC.

I've never played any of these games apart from some single player COD. I'll be getting BF3 though - looks awesome!

Probably going to go with BF3. COD was fun for a bit bit felt wrong. Like it was too quick or something. Didn't really play RO.
