Just letting folks know the server is probably not working at the moment, Raz was up till about 6am installing and configuring bukkit and it was working when he hit the sack, but I tried to join the server during smoko with no luck, I tried a restart but it made no difference and there are [SEVERE] messages in the log, since I can't get much done to it at work there's a fair chance it won't be up and running till after I get home.

I'm not 100% sure of what's happening with the server, but looking through the server log, it was refusing connections with "Failed to verify username!" which led to a trail of java.socket errors.

It could be the MC authent servers were down (yet again) and the server wasn't handling it well.

I've made a few changes, so we'll see what happens.

If the problem persists, we can always roll back to a Bukkit free install in a few minutes.

Just to keep everyone updated; I've rolled the server back to Vanilla 1.0.1

The dev build of Bukkit suggested by our hosts was throwing some nasty 'severe' errors in the server log, and would occasionally prevent people from joining.

I guess we'll have to wait for an official Bukkit release and try again then.

There are now no ops/mods on the server. we are all the same now. just to make it fair for everyone.

We have also implemented a whitelist, we have everyone on the server now but if we have missed you/or want to play just send me or shonky a PM and we can sort it out.

Set an alarm mate, 4 days running it's been at 5:09 am, we have no control over that restart, it looks like Stipe is doing that as a fix to stop the out of memory errors, I noticed we haven't had one since they implemented the daily restarts.

i have noticed a few random things of mine have gone missing, but im so far away i dont think it would be a thief. we have had quite a few outages it could be they got lost then.

Also we tried to install bukkit about a week ago and it threw up issues (see above in this thread). once a stable good version comes out we will install it.

hide your valuables. If you dig them into a random hole, it's near impossible to just "find" them for anyone but you
