I spent a few days in washington just before christmas, I couldnt believe how low they came in past the National mall! We spent a good hour plane watching at the back of the Lincoln Memorial, though most were smaller private jets.
Another upside of Dulles (if avoiding the risk of a shitty landing isn't enough) is the Udvar-Hazy air and space museum that backs onto it which has some pretty cool aircraft on display such as an Air France Concorde, F-14...
