okay so i given it a bit more of a go.

its okay, they have a huge amount of work to do in 6 months. I wouldnt be surprised if it ends up being longer.
It looks "okay" if you have everything on HIGH but it just runs poor for me when i do that. in the forums there are people with 9800gtx's claiming they get 80+ FPS easily. i cant see that being the case, unless they turn everything off. and whats the point of that?

Day night transitions are cool, very cool. buggy as though. at Mills Metropark the lighting goes haywire, looks like the lights come on at a certin time and the whole plays lights up far brighter than it ever was during the day. then all of a sudden (was running at 20x timescale) it went to how it should be lit.

physics/ffb are a massive improvement of rF. I really like how the cars feel, i feel connected to the surface. first ISI based game i have ever felt that way. i think its very close to iRacing. more close than iRacing would like.

The AI are good, still suffer from the fact they are AI and they get to accelerate at really weird places. and brake later than i can, which is frustrating as anything.

Its okay for a beta, first impressions didnt go over to well, and i think thats why alot of people have gone "i want my money back" but im interested to see where it goes.

Well, I decided to give it a couple more runs as I thought I may have been a bit too quick to judge. It definitely offers something interesting and modders should be able to knock up something half decent with it, but I just can't see any significant progression from rFactor. The sounds almost feel like a step backwards and although the environmental effects are neat, the graphics are just bloody awful.

ISI replays have always been pretty hopeless and there's still no point watching them. You're instantly transported back to the year 2002, and it shatters the otherwise brilliant atmosphere they've managed to build up while you're in the cockpit.

Ultimately I ended up getting fed up with it so to satisfy my racing fix, I downloaded the latest version of nkPro. Comparing them side by side made it clear just how far off the game rF2 seems to me. I'd forgotten just how damn good nk is. The FFB, the graphics, the weather effects (albeit with no transitions) are all in another league, which is a damn shame because I wanted to like rFactor2 and I really do wish them well.

However, after hooning about in netkar's hillclimb car for an hour or so, I've requested a refund for rf2. Unless my mates organise another league with it, I just can't see me choosing to play it over nkPro or even resubbing to iRacing. :(

<OffTopic>
Sorry to keep banging on but ... do you want to join us and race with a friendly bunch, weekly? Our little nkp league is here.

We have a very well thought-out ballast system in place, too, so the racing is always close even if you're a few seconds off (or ahead of) the pace otherwise. But most importantly we're here for fun, not for sheepstations. Practice will be on sunday night, races on tuesday night. You'll need to register on the forums, get a password for the server and put on the grid ( the grid is manually entered for each race, there's no other way to set the ballast up ) There's 3 or 4 places still empty I reckon.

I haven't tried the last couple builds but I've heard it has improved. I downloaded this one yesterday but ended up playing minecraft all day :)

Well, the first release simply did not work for me (just hung after execution), so I've opted for a quick refund.
But I'd like to know if they've fixed it up before purchasing again.

Longford 1967 is out. I haven't tried it yet so can't say much about it.

Also some historic prototypes coming. Some of the textures look really dark so I wonder if its lighting issues?

Howston's are out now. There's group 4 and group 6 (open top including CAN AM). They are Lola T-70's or based upon them and they are fun to drive. Group 4 covers 1967 to 1969 and group 6 covers 1965 to 1969. So pick your car and then use the tuning to select the model you want. I found a group 4 '67 at Spa a real hand full and a CAN AM group 6 at Monaco even worse but bloody good fun. They bounce alot.

I was trying to get lap of Spa in the HG4 '67 and I hit a parked car, a house and hit a power pole at about 190 mph. You are very busy but it is fun. I could really feel the shitty road surface at Spa in the car too. Lot's of feedback through my G25.
