So i just upped my internet to the 100mb cable ultimate plan. which required a new modem and thats it.

After

The shit thing is, I know i was getting 30MB/s about 8 months back with my old modem. I am pretty sure telstra have slowed down the non ultimate 100mb plans.

I guess Cable depends on the rest of the street - whether or not the neighbors are maxing it out. Do you notice it's quicker during the (very) late night or early morning?

Anyway, I've bit the bullet and signed up for Telstra 100Mbit cable. This should be quite an improvement over my flaky 5Mbit ADSL2+ connection.

I'll find out how much better it is at the end of the month, can't wait :)

Cant say i notice it change much, except when i have issues with telstra. few months back i was getting 0.2Mb/s in the middle of the night. so something wasnt right there. eventually they fixed it.

when i rang telstra to upgrade, i was told i would only have to pay the cost of the modem, and id be up on the bigpond ultimate 200gb plan. we got a letter through the day i installed the modem, saying we were now paying $100 (originaly was $88) so it went up $12. and when i checked what plan we were on, we were only on the cable 3.0 elite. which only had max of 30Mb/s (yet the image i posted above shows me getting more. go figure)

so i called them up, and argued about it politely. then this one lady i was transfered to was just rude and ended up hanging up on me. rang back yesterday and the guy i spoke to, gave us a better price with some discounts (now $79) and im on the ultimate now. I tell you what, left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing at telstra.

Clearly there is no need for the NBN if you can get speeds like that. Everyone else can go on wireless :p

well...that's not good. I'm only getting regular ADSL2 speeds; 10 Mb down / 0.8 Mb up.
But it's always there :)

I found out its because telstra capped us. apparantly signing up to a 200gb plan doenst mean you get the full 200gb in the first month, they pro-rata it. so i had to ring them up to get more bandwith. :s

ugh w00dsy that sucks :P
