Samsung really pissed me off with ICS. Rather than update the current crop of Tablets to ICS, they release a new version with ICS on it. And still haven't given a firm date on when the older gen tablets will see ICS.

If you were still considering the Galaxy Tab 7.7 Wifi norbs I can tell you it just got ICS, just finished flashing mine with it and it seems to be an improvement so far, need more testing to be sure but the main thing is it does have now. :D

But they only drop in price when they're ancient, useless and obsolete so you won't be able to show it off and have people think you're cool. That's obviously why you want one. 8)

You should know that's how technology works by now Norbs.

While I like my 7.7, I tend to agree with pix and nutty, the Nexus 7 is what I would buy if I was looking right now.

One thing I was hoping to do was back up my videos from the charity ride to the device. Or at least back up to a USB drive. Can the Nexus 7 allow me to do this? Or any tablet for that matter.

Will they be on an SD Card?

Yep, SD, not MicroSD.

I really don't know if it is the best way. I have an old databank, basically a 120Gig 2.5" hard drive in a case with a load of different memory card slots, that I could use, but it seems the SD slot is rooted. Still works ok for CF cards. Typical. :)

Some have USB slots, you could plug a USB > SD card adapter in and use that

I have the adapters below for my 7.7, works fine with USB stick but won't run portable hard drives that need power. Not sure if the Nexus has the ability to do this though.

Apparently the Nexus 7 can be "talked into" using a similar adapter if you speak nicely to it, buy it dinner, r00t it, then load this app. :)

Our work Nexus 7 just arrived today and its pretty impressive.. its smaller than I thought but 7 inches is 7 inches. Otherwise its fast and does what it says on the tin.

I agree with nutty, while the 7.7 has an awesome screen, the Nexus with the Tegra quad core processor and quick updates will be the better option long term.

Can you actually buy the Nexus 7 anywhere yet? Not available on Google Play.

Some EB & Harvey Norman stores have them now..

You can buy them on the play store but only the desktop version, not the phone app.

Yeah, the play store was what I was thinking. Only 8G version available there.

You might struggle to get an answer to that norbs, I'm not sure anyone actually owns a Nexus 7 here yet.

I thought Pix had one at work. And for some reason thought Nutty had one as well. :)

Stupid brain.

You can get the 16GB from the Play Store Norbs but it looks like pre-order only at this stage. There's been a huge demand for them, the 16GB more so than the 8GB it seems.

Mine's on the way, scanned in Sydney Thursday arvo according to the AAE site. Fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow but it seems something's held it up in Sydney so maybe a few more days yet :faint:

edit: it landed in Darwin this morning so should be tomorrow after all :D

Yeah I've got one..8gb.. I'll play with it tomorrow and see if I can reproduce that touch screen bug.

One of our devs has a 16gb one and he's complaining of screen separation and light bleed.. I could hardly notice it on his one.. Oh well.
