Adelaide, weather permitting, normally produces a result...plus the sheer number of runs on day one puts Aus in a great possie re timing...i think one of the abc commentators said yesterday in the last 30 tests we have only had 3 draws at Adelaide..or something like that...

I was gobsmacked by yesterday. I've never seen anything like that in the test before and it was bloody awesome! :)

Yep, might be time for him to retire. Been a champ, one of the worlds, if not the worlds best batters over the past 10 or so years, be nice to see him go out on his terms.

Ian William Quick (born 5 November 1933 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia) is a former Australian cricketer who played for Victoria in first-class cricket from 1957 to 1961.[1] Though Quick by name, he was an orthodox slow left-arm bowler.[2]
Ian Quick never played in a Test match, but he did tour New Zealand in 1960 and England in 1961 with Australian teams.[2][3] He played in four "non-Test" fixtures versus New Zealand on the former tour; but did not play in any of the five Tests in England on his latter tour.[3]

Ill take that. He never actually played a test but you cant argue with the effort

So it looks like there were 2 players who used to be part of the aussie team whose surname started with a Q :D

I would be surprised if he retired. If he was going to do that, it should have happened last season when he had some form. I wont be surprised if he is in for the next test though.

Check out some of the rolled gold in this article...

Is there a worse commentator than Brett Lee? How does he maintain the illusion of being a carbon-based life form? Does he encourage you to switch channels? Does a healthy Shane Watson exist? Do Bunnings sales assistants talk more on the television commercials than they do in store?

1. No. Brett Lee shows that bling can corrupt the evolution of the species and I listen to ABC radio with the TV on mute.
2. No. Even if you made a robotic Shane Watson the fucker will still break down.
3. No. They see you coming and think "god another grumpy old bastard heading this way, RUN! Oh shit he's caught up to me. Go to my happy place, mmmm......"

Surely Aus will be 1 up by lunch tomorrow?

Had a chat to a cricket tragic mate of mine today. We touched on a few things, but his knowledge is way way beyond mine. He disdain for Ponting makes mine look like a love affair. He is pretty high up at Bankstown cricket club, knows the Waughs and Mcgrah well. I asked him about Punter. He just laughed and highlighted something I wasnt aware of. He is about to pass S Waugh's test appearance record. Rumour has it he will retire after that if he isnt pushed before.

According to the stuff he has heard around the campfire, there is quite a bit of discord in the test team. Apparently Katich isnt the only one who wants to Punch on with Pup. Watson isn't all that popular with some people either. They are doing very well if the team isn't the happiest team around.

Ponting is still a legend to me. Even if he has lost his way. Of course I don't know any of them personally. I just loved watching him play way back when he could bat. Those quick reflex run outs were amazing too.

It's a shame if current players can't get on though.

Hell of a batsman, thats for sure Dex. I have heard too many things about him off the field to think he is a good bloke. A bit like Bradman. People used to fall over at his feet, but he was a fucking carnt according to a lot of cricket people in the know. Ask Ian Chappell what he thinks of him. :)

It's a little bit hard because he was a bit of a childhood hero for me. I still have a Gray Nicolls with David Boons autograph and a message to me, on the other side Ricky Ponting's signature along with the rest of the Tassie team. I was a fan of his from a young age. Basically all his career. That doesn't change anything of course. If he's a dick, he's a dick.

Let him equal Steve Waugh's record in Perth, then bring in Khawaja. See how somebody goes when they are brought into a successful team and allowed to bat at 5 or 6, rather than coming into a team under siege and facing the firing squad at #3 when the score is 1/7.
