I've gone back to using eztv. My upload is that pitiful that it'd take a couple of days just to get a 1:1 ratio for a TV show.

Matti, nope no rewards above 250pts for 5GB free that I know of.
Kwijibo, no idea why they're RAR'd. It's a pet peeve of mine to.
However grab a tool called SCRU (Scene Release Unpacker) & you can automate the Un-RAR as they come into your torrent completed downloads folder.

I'm not 100% on this but I believe rar'd files are typically scene releases, whereas the raw file download is a p2p release, the rar thing is a carry over from the binary newsgroup days, where you needed to use par2 files to recover a corrupt rar.kwijibo wrote:I like the speeds I get on TorrentDay, but whats with tv shows being split into rar files? They should get with the times then! I did discover that xbmc just plays em whilst still rar'd though, so thats handy at leastSHoNKY wrote:I'm not 100% on this but I believe rar'd files are typically scene releases, whereas the raw file download is a p2p release, the rar thing is a carry over from the binary newsgroup days, where you needed to use par2 files to recover a corrupt rar.kwijibo wrote:I like the speeds I get on TorrentDay, but whats with tv shows being split into rar files? Hehe, the scene moves slow, they've only just agreed on using h.264 for TV shows instead of XVID.

We'll see how long news servers last, given the recent pressure from RIAA and MPAA.

Re: Giving away an invite to TorrentDay - Now Gone
do you really need a seedbox with the bonus credit system though? I mean obviously the seedbox shits all over any upload speed we can imagine but still why pay if you dont have to

You don't need to upload, to work the system, just have them active.. but a fast uploading does help.
Also got another 2 if needed.

For example...Flinty72 wrote:as far as i know you can't transfer points (credit) to another user can you?
You give me a file that you'll think will be a good seeder and I'll do the rest. Easy peasy. I've got 3.5 here, 1.6 at another site... terabytes I'm talking. Deciding what are good seeders I seem to be good at too, if you need help.

I still don't understand how that gets Flinty credit for the upload, do you assign the server ip to his account instead of your own?

Ah good one Shonky as I was still struggling to understanding what Wabbit was hinting. But I was too scared to ask for further explanation for sake of sounding even more stupid.

Re: Giving away an invite to TorrentDay - Now Gone
It's based on who (the person logged in) clicked the file from the website. TD for example allow 5 different IP address per user.
Yes I have a seed box, that doesn't mean every single torrent I download must go through that seed box. If its going to be a great uploader or a stupidly large file, yep I'll get the box to do the hard work then FTP to get the files later on (freeing up my home internet connection). Should it be a single episode then I'll just get my Mac mini or NAS at home to download it.
Completely different IP addresses (of course), same user account.
I've thought about the various technical parts. I based it off when I left the ex girlfriend. I kept an old gen Mac mini at her place and remoted in for over a year making that my budget seed box, limiting the down and upload speeds to not rape her internet connection.
So... I bit more info than I first planned on giving. Really I just thought this seedbox thing is going to waste for me now, I'm thinking of cancelling it soon maybe in a month or two because it was so cheap and I've got a crazy amount of credit so quickly. I'll just rent one in the future again if needed. Then I thought, well for a select few I could get their ratios up quickly also.
Heres an example of me not even trying
And an example for what one file will do... 1 per person for a week = that's enough haha

Cheers for the clarification wabs, no wonder you don't need the seed box anymore, those are some impressive upload numbers.

Re: Giving away an invite to TorrentDay - Now Gone
After reading wabbits post, I got myself a seedbox for $10 a month. As my uploads are counted on Internode (telstra re-sale). It is a really handy service which I will probably use for no more than two months. Just use it to download/seed and FTP what I want from it. With some files at a 22+ ratio for seeding it doesn't take much at all, I'm assuming those 20+gb files were free leech on TD? In anycase that is an impressive turn around. Picking good torrents is the trick to getting fast ratio.

Re: Giving away an invite to TorrentDay - Now Gone
So how does a man go about getting a seedbox? Would rather hear it from you lot than Google it.
Would be good to get my ratio up on a couple of private sites for a few months.
Do you SSH in to the box or is there a remote desktop sort of thing?

Re: Giving away an invite to TorrentDay - Now Gone
I went with Seed.st
It has a web login to the ruTorrent client and you can directly add torrents there. Then just use FTP to get the files once they are on the box. Or vice versa you could FTP files to the box if you wanted to seed something you already have.
