Sector3 Studios has initiated the RaceRoom Summer Sale with a 50% discount on all cars and tracks, and a 25% discount on packs. The Summer Sale will end on 09-07-2020.
To coincide with their Summer Sale Sector3 have also deployed a 1Gb update for their RaceRoom Racing Experience improving a selection of features and content.

Update details:
Download size = 1.0 GB
Client version = 0.9.0.968
Client BuildID = 5207296
Dedi version = 64.0.1135
Dedi BuildID = 5207548

Changelist:
Dedicated server – Added UI elements to API controls for restarting the current session and send out penalties to players. These currently have some known issues such as not resetting incident points on a race restart, or skipping the garage phase and restarting straight to the grid.
Dedicated server – Potential fix for some users getting kicked for high latency after a session switch.
Dedicated server – Fixed an issue where a penalty received by a player in the first race session would still be applied in the second race session.
Shared Memory – Added incident points data. Updated minor version to 7. (retro compatible)
Controllers – Some Thrustmaster wheels were reportedly acting up with flat spot effects after a recent firmware update (30). Default profiles have it turned off as a consequence until resolved.
Physics – Fixed an issue with friction heat calculations where you could see tire temperatures rise unexpectedly at low speeds
Physics – Changed Ignition / Starter logic so that if you have those controls bount to buttons, you now have to press and maintain the Starter button until the engine is fully started.
Sounds – Road noise volume slider range now properly offers 0-100% range
Sounds – Fixed the last occurrences of hearing sudden high revs/hitting limiter from other cars while watching replays or spectating multiplayer races
Gameplay – “Position Bar Relative” setting caused some position bar issue in multiplayer where the same name would be repeated in all the boxes when that option was enabled. As a quick fix, we temporarily disabled this feature and forced it to be disabled.

Content updates:
AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse DTM 1995 – Tuned high-speed damping
Audi TT RS VLN – Tuned high-speed damping
BMW 320 Turbo (Gr. 5) – Increased radiator cooling
BMW M1 (Procar & Group 4) – Added onboard cameras (accessible through pressing the Home key or through the broadcast overlay controls when spectating a race)
Cougar C14-2 – Fixed a typo that made this car use default damage values instead of specific ones.
DTM 13/14/15/16 – AI behavior improvements & updates to their fuel predictions. Increased differential locking and drivetrain oscillations to stop rev dropping due to wheel speed differences.
Formula RaceRoom Junior – Tune high-speed damping
Group C – Tuned high-speed damping, increased front view swing arm length, and decreased the rear.
GTR1 – AI behavior improvements
GTR3 – Reduced peak camber angles, reduced tyre heating. Old generation GT3 cars are now more closely BOP’d with the more recent models. Updated AI tyre wear to match player’s better.
GTR4 – Tweaks to brake cooling, tuned dampers, further BOP adjustments and improvements to default car setups.
Porsche 911 Carrera Cup (964) – Improved default car setup and equalized front/rear tyre heating

Porsche 934 Turbo RSR – AI behavior improvements
Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport – Tweaks to brake cooling, tuned dampers, reduced tyre heating and tweaks to tyre camber behaviors (rear tyre now require less)
Touring Classics – Updated tyres, suspension adjustments (softer overall), balance of performance adjustments, and AI behavior improvements
Tracks – tweaked initial fuel consumption estimates to improve/fix some questionable AI strategic decisions.
Tweaked fuel consumption estimates for various cars. (reminder that once a lap has been completed, the estimates are replaced with actual recorded values)
WTCR – smoothed rev limiters and pit limiters, AI behavior improvements (calmed them down in fast turns)
Hungaroring – New additions to the real track are now implemented: a new pit building, updated runoff areas, new curbs, pitwall paint, medical building.

Sector3 Studios Producer Jean-François Chardon published the Summer 2020 Developer notes for RaceRoom Racing Experience in which he informs us of the latest ongoings regarding the RaceRoom racing simulator development.

I usually start with a progress update on all the things mentioned in the previous dev notes, but as it’s been so long since the last ones, it doesn’t really make much sense. Everything in those old notes has been shipped… I suppose that rather than re-hashing what we’ve done and delivered, you probably want to read about what comes next and what we’ve been working on recently and will work on in the coming weeks and months. Before I do that, I’d like to start with two topics that I believe deserve a few words:

What was up with all those recent patches and maintenance periods?
Regarding the high frequency and duration of maintenance and small patches with seemingly little content or features, it hasn’t escaped your attention that with the lack of real racing happening in this first half of the 2020 season, a lot of requests from partners and opportunities arose to organize and deliver virtual racing events. The size of the team here at Sector3 doesn’t allow us to simultaneously work on multiple fronts and we, therefore, have had to delay certain content releases and shift our priorities in order to ensure delivery of those partnership deals. All in all, we had to take the servers down more often than normal in order to push content on time for those many events. However, with real racing resuming, the situation is slowly going back to normal.

Cheating in RaceRoom?
RaceRoom has anti-cheat measures, despite what you may hear from trolls out there. It is an always-online service and therefore if you do cheat, chances are high that you’ll get caught and we will lock your account. Forever. We don’t really joke around with that. If you get caught, then that’s it.
Yes, we do have advanced anti-cheat measures and yes, accounts are getting banned regularly.
Since RaceRoom is free to play, It’s usually on free content lobbies and free competitions that you’ll find cheaters before they get detected and banned. People with purchases don’t really tend to cheat at all due to the fear of losing their accounts for good.
So yes, it is possible to cheat in any game and no, games having a fancy 3rd party anti-cheat system is not a guarantee of a cheat-free experience. It all depends on the tools available to detect but most importantly to ban and keep the cheaters away, and for that, you can count on RaceRoom.

The 11th August 2020 Update
Today we are pushing a RaceRoom update. The update has a heavy focus on AI improvements but you will also find very welcome updates to some tracks, further improving their accuracy, as well as a brand new layout for the freshly renamed DEKRA Lausitzring. Oh, and by the way, we’re also using this update to prepare RaceRoom for an upcoming new track release.

Image

A Ranked Multiplayer tab has been added on your player profile page. It centralizes all your ranked racing history and progression graphs. You can click a data point or a race in the list to view the full results of that particular event. This is the first iteration and we will definitely keep improving it from your feedback.

Image

Related to Ranked Multiplayer, the dedicated server now features a Scheduling assistant. The feature was developed as part of our development roadmap towards fully automated multiplayer racing series with matchmaking, but we’re making it public for all the league administrators out there who will surely find the feature useful to plan their dedicated server spawns ahead of time.

Image

The next steps
While the recent public updates may appear slim in features, we’re not slowing down behind the curtains.

We’re almost ready to deliver some pretty solid sound improvements. The update will make the cockpit atmosphere feel so alive, you’ll wonder how you could ever like it before. Word from the beta testers was they can hardly force themselves to drive with the old sounds now that they have had a taste of what’s to come. Expect those improvements to ship with our next update, along with the Audi and BMW DTM 2020 cars. In the meantime, I’ll try and make some preview videos.

Our currently active tasks for the Sector3 programmers are:
- Move the remaining Scaleform menus to web (so far car setup and replay menus are done, and the most complex of all is in progress: the options menu). This is part of the steps towards a more modern UI that will allow faster iterations and development of features such as signing up to ranked multiplayer races, etc.
- Gameplay modifications to Push to Pass and DRS in preparation for DTM 2020 cars. As you know we currently have a unique button mapping for both DRS and PtP but the DTM 2020 cars have both systems. They also come with specific regulations such as one unique PtP activation per lap or DRS allowed in qualifying that we need to replicate.

Then we do have more long term tasks that have been started, but here we venture into features that I can’t currently put a binding ETA on, as we’re on and off those tasks at the moment. We will try and finish some for our December 2020 update. Those end of the year updates is traditionally more feature-oriented since the holiday break also means a break in esports competitions and community league racing and we are then free to make deeper changes to how the game behaves.
- Engine mapping – Ability to prioritize power over fuel efficiency from the cockpit.
- Manual inlaps – AI no longer taking control of your car at the end of a race. We currently have this working in single-player but still need work for multiplayer.
- Manual rolling starts/formation laps – Still needs a lot of work as we only have a prototype of it right now for single-player mode only.
- Investigation of driver swap feature – So far it does look like a difficult one for sure and one that will require network code improvements.
- AI’s in Multiplayer – We have made some good progress on this but currently still have to add quite a lot of data communications regarding non-player cars. This feature will probably have to be on hold as well as pending network code improvements.

There are also many things that don’t make it into public changelogs but still occupy us. Things like allowing our servers to force showing certain packs of objects on the track for partners and sponsor logos, or spending some time with our colleagues over at SimBin UK to answer some questions and assist on physics and sounds.
On the content front, we are obviously focused on DTM 2020 cars at the moment and the liveries are being painted. It should only be a handful of weeks before they are released. We also have physics improvements in the works as well as brand new content that is better announced at a later date.
Hopefully, we get to show you previews of what we’re working on a regular basis in the future. Stay tuned for that!

Swedish game developer Sector3 has shared the first screenshots of the upcoming 2020 Audi RS 5 and BMW M4 DTM cars for RaceRoom.
In the real world, the 2020 DTM championship could well be the last one. With the Aston Martin DTM outfit R Motorsport already withdrawn from the DTM earlier this year, also manufacturer Audi has recently announced it will end its participation in DTM at the end of this season to focus on its Formula E and customer racing projects.
As things stand now, BMW will be the only manufacturer left, which means it will most likely be the end for the DTM in its current format.

You can do it via the website too. It's all there already in the game you just have to unlock it. You can also test drive each car at Raceroom Raceway before you buy it.

Included in the December build will be the Audi R8 LMS GT2 as a brand new competitor for the Porsche 911 GT2 RS which is already in the game.

With its 640 hp, the near-production-level 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine, makes the Audi R8 LMS GT2 by far the most powerful sports car in the history of the Audi customer racing program. All that power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 7-speed double-clutch S-Tronic transmission operated by paddle shifters. The R8 LMS GT2 is build to SRO GT2 regulations, and specifications, which makes it the perfect weapon of choice for the international gentleman driver.

It's the VW Scirocco... but not the one you were expecting nor in the sim you expected either. :p
Sector3 Studios announced that the iconic Volkswagen Scirocco Group 2 will be part of the upcoming December update for the RaceRoom Racing Experience title.
The first generation of the Scirocco ( type 53) was built between 1974 and 1981. The first VW Scirocco race car was developed during the introduction year of the car by Eckart Berg. The race version of the car was powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine tuned to develop 170 horsepower at 7,000 rpm which propelled the car to a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph).
The Scirocco successfully competed in the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft Gruppe 2 wearing some iconic liveries such as the Zender, Jagermeister, and Kamei colors to name a few.

A new updated for RaceRoom Racing Experience brings a number of changes and tweaks to the simulation across a wide selection of parameters. Of the more notable updates, Sector3 Studios have deployed a number of physics changes and graphical improvements to a number of cars, plus fixed a pit lane speed limiter exploit and added yet more enhancements to the game AI across various circuits.

Update details:
Download size = 1.0 GB
Client version = 0.9.2.17
Client BuildID = 6069362
Dedi version = 70.0.1238
Dedi BuildID = 6025985

Changelog:
Missed from December patch notes: After an exploit had been found with pit lane speed limit tolerances (where players would be seen in the pit lane without the limiter on to gain a small advantage by going slightly above the limit), that tolerance was reduced. This has caused some reports of harsher pit speed penalties, which have felt unfair at times. While we look into improving on those cases, players can seek to adapt and adjust their techniques: be careful to enter the pitlane under the limit and make sure not to turn off the limiter too soon when leaving the pitlane. While driving down a slope, avoid giving your engine too much torque as it will be more likely to cause your car to speed above the limit. (using 1st gear with full throttle is more likely to make you bounce above the limit)
Fixed Hillclimb stages start phase that failed to hand over control to player
Fixed a case where certain replay files could fail to load
Fixed -triScr parameters that could conflict with a prototype for a new interface that is still in development.
Fixed dedicated server getting stuck in a session when the “Stay in Practice if empty” option was disabled.
Physics - BMW M4 GT4 - Increased suspension travel
Physics - Formula RaceRoom 3 - Lowered minimum diffuser operating height
Physics - Formula RaceRoom U.S. - Increased suspension travel
Physics - GT2 cars - BOP work to nerf the Audi a bit
Physics - GT3 cars - Tuned ABS & TC so all cars hold more similar slip ratios while TC & ABS are active. Fixed automatic gearbox that could be spotted failing to downshift under 4th gear.
Physics - Scirocco Gr2 - Fixed incorrect placement of the fuel cell
Cars - Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo - Improved position of hood / bonnet / rear cameras
Cars - Audi R8 LMS GT4 - Improved visuals of the cockpit data display and LED’s
Tracks - Bathurst - Fixed an issue with a Pirtek sponsor
Tracks - Brands Hatch GP - Visual tweaks. Fixed an art material present on the exit of turn 8 that could trigger a lap invalidation.
Tracks - Portimao - Fixed HUD track maps that were no longer centered
Tracks - RaceRoom Hillclimb - Fixed HUD track maps that were no longer centered
Tracks - Sepang - Fixed some cut corridors
AI - Bathurst - Improved AI behaviour
AI - Falkenberg - Improved AI behaviour during race starts
AI - Mantorp - Improved AI behaviour
AI - Scandinavian Raceway (Anderstorp) - Improved AI behaviour

RACEROOM CLIENT V0.9.2.23 NOW AVAILABLE

Update details:
Download size = 1.2 GB
Client version = 0.9.2.23
Client BuildID = 6138034
Dedi version = 71.0.1243
Dedi BuildID = 6138106

Changelog:
game.raceroom.com is now switched to https
Pitlane speed limit tolerance has been adjusted when the limiter is enabled.
Slowdown penalty multiplier from repeated cuts is now properly displayed on the HUD notification
Tweaks to slowdown penalty logic where the player’s best valid lap in the session is now used as reference to estimate the time gained and the time being given up. If no valid lap exists yet, we then use the AI’s predicted speed just like before.
It means the time the player gives up will be more accurately calculated and that the best place to give that time back is no longer in turns, which should improve safety as well. A good tip is also to avoid slowing down near pitlane entrances and exits as slowdown penalties are frozen while in pitlane.
Prevented enabling pit limiter or engine ignition during an AI-controlled rolling start.
Fixed the default set of driving assists being selected at first game launch.
Fixed an issue where player could sometime get stuck when leaving a server early (i.e. before results were made official)
Fixed dedicated server results having wrong final positions for players suffering early disconnects
Fixed dedicated server UI issues with certain long track names as well as lap and duration selector that could sometimes reset the race length value.
Fixed dedicated server that could sometimes get stuck if no player finished the race
Fixed the flickering of contact shadows (under the cars) for VR and Triple Screen rendering.
Fixed some issues with spectator mode on servers with rolling start races and lap-based races
Fixed issues with rolling starts when Assisted Braking was enabled.
Fixed some gearbox grind noises that could sometimes be heard during an AI-controlled rolling start
Physics – Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO – Adjusted idle revs to prevent occasional stalling
Physics – BMW M4 GT4 – Increased rear suspension travel by 10mm, dampers tuned for better handling over bumps
Physics – BOP – BMW M6 GT3 – slight reduction of torque
Physics – Callaway Corvette C7 GT3 R – Improved engine cooling
Physics – Fabcar 935 – Fixed some issues with the differential where the preload could be set very high.

Physics – P1 and P2’s – Added default gearbox ratios for Daytona, some AI behaviour tweaks.
Physics – Porsche 964 Carrera Cup – Improved standing start performance through a clutch adjustment
Physics – Volkswagen Scirocco – Adjusted the rear tyres wear rate.
Physics – WTCC – Added adjustable engine braking
Physics – WTCR – Improvements to the initial grip of fresh tyres and help reduce the tyre pressure increase over longer stints. Optimum grip is now reached at 80 Celcius. Default tyre pressures were adjusted to match.
Tracks – Dubai – Fixed harsh cut detections, moved the leaderboard spawn location closer to the racing line.
Tracks – Hockenheim – Moved the leaderboard spawn location further back
Tracks – Imola – Moved the pitlane entry gate entrance
Tracks – Portimao – Fixed harsh cut detections
Tracks – Scandinavian Raceway (Anderstorp) – AI behaviour tweaks to South layout
Tracks – Sepang – Fixed harsh cut detections (note: Sepang North layout appears to crash on load, this is being investigated)
Tracks – Suzuka – Fixed west layout pitlane that triggered invalid laps.

RACEROOM V0.9.2.23 DEDI FIX NOW AVAILABLE
