4S drops £50 and only available as the 16Gb version.
4 drops to £319 to replace the 3GS and is only available as an 8Gb version.

New iTunes out in October. Looks a bit like the iOS version.

New long form touch screen nano that's only 5.4mm thick.

I'm a little surprised they've stuck with the same basic shape because I find it really awkward to pick the 4/4S up and hold without a case on.

I suppose they'll sell shitloads regardless so who cares

I really like the nano. I've got an 8gig little square one that I got for free in the 1st gen recall. I'd prefer a 16gig. BUT the colours are very girly. Apart from black they look like a poor washed out colour choice.

I won't be getting the phone and the Touch has never fitted what I need from a player.

My nephew's got the little square Nano and I've had a play with it and quite like it. I presume that new Nano is an alternative rather than a replacement. Can't see why they'd drop the little 'un because it's very handy for things like jogging or going to the gym.

As I do neither of those things, I'm just guessing

It's a replacement. It looks like they've dropped the two sizes of 8 and 16gb versions and just gone for a 16gb only. I'm a bit surprised they didn't drop the shuffle and move the little square nano down to 8Gb for that £50 player market.

The new one looks fine for jogging/gym too. It's only 3in long and 5mm thick so it's not exactly heavy.

Kev you were saying the new iPhone is more expensive? I just read $399 USD for a 64GB. I paid $999 AUD for mine last year.

I've been saying for ages they should have done a touch screen in the long form style. Taken them ages to realise it's the way to go. The longer ones sold very well cos they were just the right size for use. I've got the small square one which is ok but yes it's a bit too small.

Outright buy price has gone up.
That 399 will be with a 24 month contract on top.

Yeah. It said nowhere on the site I saw about contracts. :S but saw the Aussie site prices. For us it's the same price as the 4S was. Which means I really have no desire to upgrade.

Given the deathly silence of the Disciples of Steve this morning, it must be a massive let down. The last few iPhones have had the tech nerds going berserk on my Twitter time line, but this morning, hardly a word. I have seen 4 people say exactly what Dex just said, "No need to upgrade." Given that a lot of them have had EVERY single iClone, it comes as a surprise. Kev has a point I reckon, 12 month cycles are ridiculous.

Looks alright to me spec wise, but I think the lack of NFC is a large oversight, I guess Apple think it's not going to be a big thing, but I know of 2 banks in Aus that are trialling NFC payments as we speak, and from what I've read are just about ready to roll it out to anyone who wants it.

The galaxy sells well and that's had NFC for 2 generations now but I don't really see anyone using it....yet. I think Apple will hold off until it actually picks up use. I think the public are still sceptical about security and wanting to show people you've got an expensive smartphone in your pocket for the muggers waiting outside.

I would assume either they won't work at all (already some games that won't load to my ipad1) or the authors will write separate versions, just like they already do for phone and pad apps.
