I'm amazed the Windows phones aren't talked about more. Its probably the smoothest OS I have used on a phone.

Trouble is, people with Samsung's are now getting just as bad. You can't go on a forum anywhere (almost), without iphone vs GS3 topics raging that just go round and round in circles and the Samsung owners are doing exactly the same thing as the Apple ones used to do. It's just a bloody phone!

Now Jobs has gone I wonder if Apple will become just another electronics company. I suspect it will.

That sounds more like mental health issues than fanboyism. :eyepop:

Windows burnt an arse load of their customers with WM6 I reckon. It was so bad I converted my Hd2 to Android as soon as it was possible. I do agree that the latest windows mobile is smooth as silk though.

My apologies, hopefully it will only be a quick hijack. :)

What is it about your Apple machine that has you contemplating a change to Windows.
I'm thinking about going the other way but I am nervous.

Speedy. I have a 27" iMac, my second Apple computer. It has been back under warranty 3 times now in 18 months. Hard drive failed. Graphics chip failed. CD/DVD drive failed. Luckily I learnt from the previous MacBook Pro and got an extended warranty. The MBP went back 4 times as well. Logic-board x 2, screen and DVD drive. I also had to fight Apple about the warranty as they claim the warranty starts the day you order it, not when you receive it.

It is a crying shame, because OS X is rock fucking solid. I love the iMac, just get pissed off that it has been back so often. The fact that is it is 2.5 hour round trip to drop off and pick up doesnt help. That on top of the iPhone shitting itself makes me wonder WHY you pay such a premium for Apple gear.

When the iMac dies, I will probably look at a Hackintosh. Best of both worlds.

Mate of mine had a Mac Book Pro and also lost his HD. They replaced it under warranty but he lost everything on it.

He's not even slightly techy so backing up wouldn't be something he'd of heard of. Some people don't even know what hard drives are let alone the idea that it might break. He just wanted a laptop and thought an Apple would be a good one.

Doesn't matter if he backed up or not it's a pain in the arse losing a drive and those 2.5" HDD's in Mac's fail quite regularly (as they do in PC's and External HDD) the Mac slot loading DVD drive sucks are pretty flakey too , pretty much why they disappeared from most computers on the market. You have to remember that the majority of component's in Mac's come out of Foxconn yet when i kept Foxconn in my shop no one wanted them as they not well known.

What that has to do with an iPhone 5 i have no idea

If your Toshiba dies or HP or what ever none of them will retain your data, Touch wood my Macbook pro has been great yet my brothers has been a complete lemon so much so he is onto his third full replacement , i leave laptop sales to the big guys now as the small amount of money you make in no way covers the amount of warranty hassles and so far i have duds with all brands with the exception of ASUS .

Back to iPhones again , sorry ..

I have to say that for some reason when I had an iPhone I would hard pressed ti hand over cash for apps. I think i bought 2 in the time i had it and jailbroke it for the Tom Tom app (no way i would pay $99).

But with the SII I have no issue handing over cash for apps..... Very strange

On thing I love about this phone us FM radio.... Had iy before my iPhone and missed it alot

I only grabbed free apps at the start. But the quality is always lacking. Paid apps are almost always far better. Fuck knows how much I've paid in total for them now. Must be a couple of hundred bucks.

iOS6 comes out tonight if anyone is interested.
No doubt the servers will be swamped. I'll get it tomorrow cos I'm travelling friday and want to try out the new turn by turn maps sat nav thingy.

Looks like mainly a whole bunch of small tweaks but overall a decent enough improvement and you can't argue when it's free.

I'm interested :) the new iOS is more exciting than the new phone to me. Looking forward to trying a few things out.

I'll hold of until reliable reports confirm its ok with 4S models, I'm hopefull it improves performance &/or battery life but I doubt it.

Let us know what u think once you've updated gents. ;)
