OK Noob question

I have

1: Nikon D7000 (which works)
1: Yongnu YN565EX Speedlight (which works fine when attached directly to the camera

+ just arrived tpday 1 Yongnu FC-682/M cord

It fits directly to the hotshoe and also to the flash

screwed on tight

doesnt fire!

Do i have to change some setting on my camera, or is the cord a dud (i suspect its me)

Am scouring the net and manual that came with camera but cant work it out

Cant you fire it off remotely if you put the camera on commander mode?

Or is that for Nikon flashes only?

Tried that. Didn't fire.

Maybe I'll take a photo of the connections and post them on here

Did you see the flash to be looking for commander mode too? (if it has such a setting)

Those cords look exactly the same to me

Oops... see = set. Should be a setting on the flash unit itself to be in commander mode too.

In Canon language; "Master" & "Slave", if that helps.

Glad it was something simple.

I wouldn't have thought there were too many difficulties with adding a flash cord but since I looked at a friend's Nikon the other day & I struggled with even the menus, I was hesitant to say anything. :)
