Would you like some camera with that lens?

holy shit! That is enormous!

Never thought a lens would need it's own battery pack! I guess you can now have you own high-def photo's of Pluto on your PC and still have spare size for the poster on the wall!

There's not that much zoom there. We have compact cameras at work under $600 that will get you closer to things. It's the massive aperture at those focal lengths that make it so large.

There's an SX50HS at work with 1200mm equiv. it's completely different of course though. Sensor size is tiny. And as said, aperture isn't constant, or very wide.

Was just pointing out that big lens doesn't always mean big magnification.

I thought about it, but it's nothing we all haven't seen before really. I'll post some test shots up in the next few days. As I mentioned to you, if there's such thing as a 'sharp copy' I must have got one. It's very impressive. Can't wait to take it to the track for some Motorsport shots.

That just means that the lens's AF adjustment is in synch with your camera body.

All that technology and engineering and you just know it'll be used to get a photo of somebody's tits.

Your making that sound like a bad thing

But seriously, what the hell would you shoot with it?

No good for sports, and for most other things it would be better and easier to stand closer :)

Could it be used as a sight on an automatic weapon...? Good market in the US if so.... :)

just a few test shots from last night... I'm thinking you can work out which are the 100-400, and 16-35.
