Nice, thanks.
Everybody is trying to sell the sizzle nowadays, not the product. I dunno, I don't really trust these guys, they've churned out two bug mountains so far...

Re: ARMA3 Alpha Program
true. I still think I'll wait and see I hate to be the paying beta tester, hehe. And they really need to pull together the user interface, too - the inventory handling was/is pretty unintuitive in A2. There wasn't a single person who didn't have to ask for directions.smithcorp wrote:Pretty good support though ysu - patches coming regularly for ARMA2.

Re: ARMA3 Alpha Program
I reckon it's the arma2 gfx engine polished a bit...it certainly has the same feel to it. And if it's true, you can set things up in a way so your computer would be able to handle it.smithcorp wrote:I hope my PC can handle it...
Edit: um...it's probably just the looks, according to some reports it's really heavy on the hardware.
Edit2: love the stances in the movement vid. It's genius!
Fark this looks like a good step forward....my resolve is wavering...

Haha! Your resolve weakens! Funny, with 2 hours to go before the Alpha could be bought last night (about 11.30pm our time), BIS store got swamped and went off line for maintenance. So it must be a popular buy. i have to say after watching those vids, I am looking forward to trying it out, and I also want to play British Armed Forces in Takistan using ARMA3 mechanics (screw this futuristic swimming around underwater).
Here is a useful link to suggested keybindings for some of the new capabilities: http://dslyecxi.com/arma-3/arma3-alpha-controls/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Are you sure about that? It still seems to be up for purchase...although their shop is borked.smithcorp wrote: Funny, with 2 hours to go before the Alpha could be bought
Edit: but it's available on steam for a few $ extra

Re: ARMA3 Alpha Program
I was referring to last night about 10.30pm - their servers fell in a heap just before the deadline. They are working now - but I'm going to buy through Steam and get the basic version rather than use the flaky BIS website.ysu wrote:Are you sure about that? Re: ARMA3 Alpha Program
The only thing you can't buy on Steam is the all-out version - but I'm not sure if potential future expansions worth that much for me. The basic version for $33 seems fine

Re: ARMA3 Alpha Program
Well, ARMA 3 Alpha is fantastic! Runs smoothly, even better than ARMA2 on my machine, sounds are great, new stances are terrific (take some getting used to). TRackIR needs to be activated in game and works seamlessly for infantry, vehicles and helo. Flew the Little Bird around the island, did some landings and takeoffs and some shooting. Loving it.

Re: ARMA3 Alpha Program
Well, I've bit the bullet, bought the basic version...it's ARMA 2.5 imho. It's refined & improved. I was really hoping for one thing; the refinement of the inventory. That was one of the worst designed elements and it has remained. Maybe in arma 2.6 (aka arma 4) hehe. At least they've addressed the mouse response, that's a great thing.
Well, if there's enough ppl picking it up it can be a good game online.

Re: ARMA3 Alpha Program
Not sure about this one - I was a big ARMA fan but didn't really get into ARMA2 - 3 seems to be a bit more of the same
I'll give it a bit more time as it develops - can't seem to get the game to run how I like it
