Lamborghini Veneno

Post by Big Kev »

This is Lamborghini's fastest car ever made and will be built to celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary.

While Ferrari and McLaren launched an endless string of teasers with their Geneva-bound supercars, Lamborghini revealed extremely limited information. Speaking of limited, the Veneno will be made in only three units and as you would expect, all of them have already been sold.

The Sunday Times says it will cost a whopping 3.1M GBP (3.57M EUR or 4.65M USD). At its heart is a V12 6.5-liter engine producing 740 hp (552 kW) linked to a seven-speed ISR robotized manual gearbox. It will enable the supercar to reach a top speed of 220 mph (354 km/h).

In terms of styling, we find it even more radical than other special models like the Reventon or Sesto Elemento. Although we don't get to see the car's back, the rear wing looks extremely big. There are several carbon fiber components, a roof scoop, sweptback headlights and massive wheels.

Hmm. Don't really like that. I know Lambos are meant to look a bit mad but that seems a bit like they're trying too hard.

Yeah I agree. They've overdone the little twiddly bits.

Looks a bit like a love child between an aventador and a le mans racer.

Looks like a full sized Hot Wheels car. Not my kind of thing at all but I'm glad Lambo are making crazy cars still.

Looks mental.

It talks to the little kid inside me, and I love it :)

Or try like mad to get the new Ferrari. Because you won't get the McLaren P1, it is sold out!
The Ferrari LaFerrari (yes, really) has sold out too. They have more orders than they do production slots.

Definitely not. But this isn't about value. It's about passion (and exclusivity). It's about celebrating madness. These sort of things :)

I dunno but I think these car makers are biting themselves in the arse a bit. They could make a bit more money on these things, there's still a lot of wealthy car nuts about. Although, it's quite possible that they aren't making too much on these and the regular cars are the bread & butter, these are really just marketing stunts.

You'd find that quite a few of the people buying one of these cars wouldn't, infact, buy one if more were being made. Seems counterintuitive but far from paying for the fastest McLaren/Ferrari etc ever made, they're actually paying for exclusivity.

I think that's nailed it - it looks like something out of one of those computer games that couldn't afford any official licences.
