Jeff died yesterday in hospital of liver failure aged 49. He founded Slayer with Kerry King. He'd been doing it really tough of late after getting a flesh eating bacteria from a spider bite. Jeff is one of the reasons why I play guitar.

I like Slayer but wasn't aware of band members names, so took me awhile to work out who it was when my FB wall went a bit crazy today. He was responsible for a great percentage of my favourite Slayer songs too. A big loss to the Metal world.

The infection really messed up Jeff's arm and no wonder he wasn't playing too much of late

Turns out Jeff was awaiting a liver transplant because of liver cirrhosis. Still sad he's gone but like his music, his life was hard and fast.
