Everything is looking very good on the JWT front:

We have fully aligned and focused the telescope on a star, and the performance is beating specifications.

So the first image from JWST is about, and they're saying they're looking back to the beginning of known time... 13.5 billion years or so. That image shows established galaxies.

When do we start re-thinking the 'big bang' as not the start of the universe, but an event in an already established universe, and the Cosmic Microwave Background as perhaps a shockwave of it?

Someone overlaid Hubble's image of the same area.

"This deep field, taken by Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), is a composite made from images at different wavelengths, totaling 12.5 hours – achieving depths at infrared wavelengths beyond the Hubble Space Telescope’s deepest fields, which took weeks."

I can't even begin to get my head around the scale of what's in that photo. It's endless.

It makes fighting for a bit of land in Ukraine seem really trivial in the big scheme of things!

Astonishing pictures. Can't wait to see more. We can't possibly be the only ones here.

This popped into my YouTube feed & caught my attention as I have contemplated this exact question in my feeble mind at times...

Now get ready to be mind blown!!!

I find whenever I watch one of those videos, I need a lie down. The Twin Paradox videos are excellent as well.

There is something that always pops into my head when they talk about other planets that could sustain life. They are seeing them as they were x years ago. Who knows if they are even still there?

Artemis 1 lifts off in about 2-3 hours (The launch window opens at 8:33am ET (12:33 UTC)).

Exciting stuff.
Looks like a mission to launch an moon orbiting craft and then it'll splash back down in 3 weeks.

The sheer volume of info from what JWT is finding is mind boggling. But I'm finding it very hard to work out what is accurate to what is speculation.
So for the astro-nerds here what YT or Podcast channels do you rely on that I might not know about?

From all the launch footage and imagery ive seen of the launch this pic from John Kraus wins!
His launch photography in general is top notch, well worth a look thru his IG profile.
