For mine he was the best musician in that band. The solo in "Light My Fire" shows what a competent musician can do with a tinny little stage organ - especially at around 2:20 when he gets wound up.

It's kind of hard to explain how influential these guys were. They were the first really "in your face" band I can remember. They really challenged the establishment like few before or since. Their performance on the Ed Sullivan Show waved two fingers at industry moguls. Looking back now I'm not sure I would have liked them so much had I been my present age. They really were revolutionaries.

Was listening to the 40th Anniversary edition of L.A. Woman just the other day. The Doors were just a little before my time musically but I do enjoy a listen every now and then.
