I've always admired the 911, however this is the first one which I actually want to own....Even if you cannot get it with a clutch!

Agreed on the Car will be slower if it had a manual gearbox, also they would have to build in more margins of error with it also.
Some play it safe on the merry-go-round, others go for the thrills of the roller-coaster.
