They might drop him like a stone too. Depends if they get the hates on him again. But for now it's all "Hail the great man, Hail! I love him I want to boof him. Get him up here!" :D

I watched some highlights of the 4th Test from '74/'75 today when Lillee and Thommo were at their most dangerous and their is a bit about that going on here. Obviously Mitch is not in their league but the intimidation and inability to cope for the English batsmen was very similar. Was very interesting.
Oh and cricket highlights/docos on Youtube are like crack/heroin/meth/weed/vodka and roofies in one for me. Talk about going down the rabbit hole!

This one was great:

Dodgy quality but towards the end the Meckiff chucking issue pops up. His action was suss, not every ball but much like Brett Lee his effort ball was dodgy but check out some of the other guys like Tony Lock from England, utterly disgraceful. I now understand why it was such a crippling issue for domestic and international cricket at the time. I can see why the scapegoated Meckiff now and why we now have the front foot no ball rule.

9 English batsmen combined for 32 runs - some sweet form going on there!
Extras (8) was the fourth leading scorer

:woohoo:

There's a very clear pattern happening in test cricket atm. Home teams winning series and I think this will a pattern to continue for a while. Some games will be close but our tours of England and India have shown it will be hard and teams coming here will do it tough because of the bounce and pace in the wickets, which they always have apart from the odd occasions. These first two pitches are more like the pitches of old although spin didn't dominate this test like it use too. That being the case the Waca could be a nightmare for England. Seems the only way a touring team can have success is in the short forms of the games.

An amazing difference from just a few months ago. England certainly aren't playing like a top ranked test team at the moment.

England need another recruiting drive through South Africa!
Jokes aside, it does seem without Strauss and Collingwood there is no strength to the group and the mind games have them totally rattled.

It's alright, he'll get to keep his spot just as long as he does his homework.

Aussies appear to be in a hurry...not sure why...thinking they may be a little over confident...

Smith did very well today. In no rush and played some good shots.

As usual, we've let you off the hook again.
You've doubled your scored for the loss of only one more wicket.

Gunna be interesting to see what happens when Johnson bowls. Everyone's saying to expect more of the same, but even faster. On the other hand, I wonder if he expects it to all just happen for him. It may not be so easy.

Good start though.

The over rate was shit today. Too many mothers club meetings between the 11 captains of England, and drinks every two minutes!

Yep - slow over rates should be penalised by extras added to the batting teams total at days end...5 runs for every over lost...

Weak as piss ICC...stand up as this sort of slow bull shit will not help the sustainability of the test version of the game - which is the best version...

The English seem to have been taking lessons from the Aussie batsmen of recent series: Pietersen's shot was pretty embarrassing.

I honestly didn't expect the Australian team to hand the Poms a lesson like this.

Good insight Doc. It came up in a discussion today. The stats back you up.
