Re: Beer you're enjoying
I get a lot of beers online - Beer Cartel: http://www.beercartel.com.au/beer/brewe ... ark/to-ol/. Also, Barnys in Sydney is one of the best spots for a constantly changing beer selection. I had To Øl on tap there before!! https://www.facebook.com/barnysfinewinesandales
Currently in the UK and am quickly getting to know European beers very well!

Thanks mate, I'll give beercartel - and the To Ol - a go.
Hm...beercartel has nothing in stock. That's not very encouraging.

Stick with it though, they usually update their stock fairly regularly. Enjoy!

Sounds nice, I'll give it a try.
by the way have you tried the Pirate Life IIPA? Comes in a can but dont't let that fool you, it's magnificent. Really strong, too
I've ordered an aussie craft beers selection pack from beercartel, and it had a few very nice ones, including this. It's good if you want to test a few very nice aussie brews.

Re: Beer you're enjoying
I can't speak higly enough of the Westvleteren 12
Most expensive beer I had to date, but it's also simply the best. Belgian qualdruples are very nice, and this is the king of them all. Smooth as butter, tasty, it is unbelievable that you can do this to a beer. (they sold out in a week, too, it seems)
The other I've tried recently is the AleSmith IPA. This is the nicest IPA I've had the good luck trying. Highly recommended.

I've tried to enjoy Belgian beers, they just don't grab me like the new generation of American and Australia ales.
The AleSmiith looks tops.. But $30 for 4

That is less than $10/bottle, not too bad compared to the belgian brother.pixelboy wrote:I've tried to enjoy Belgian beers, they just don't grab me like the new generation of American and Australia ales.

Sadly in Australia it seems you can either buy something at DanMurphys, or you'll have to fork out double the price. No one seems to do proper volume.

Re: Beer you're enjoying
Heads up for those who want to sink some money into beer, I've found a site where you can buy Belgian beer - considerably cheaper than here.
Here's the Westvleteren 12, at 8 bottles it's only $30 AUD / bottle (inc shipping).

Just curious if people outside of Vic get Hawthorns?

Re: Beer you're enjoying
I'm a huge fan of the pilsner. I think 'better' is kind of subjective though.
I was more interested if it was shipping outside of vic as it's reasonably hard to find anything apart from the pale ale even here.
There's so many micro breweries here in hipster Melbourne it's hard to keep up.

Yes, absolutely, "better" is definitely subjective.
Craft beer is outta control, sooooo many breweries.. it's great but I fear that there will be casualties.

Yeah, Pale Ale and Golden Ale from Dan Murphy's Qld, not sure about the Pils.DexterPunk wrote:Just curious if people outside of Vic get Hawthorns?
I really like the Pale Ale but I don't know if it's changed a little this summer, or my palate has. I used to imagine a hint rose water at the finish, now I can't.

Re: Beer you're enjoying
I recommend a few good ones I've tried recently - these are average priced, but quite good. Danmurphys stock them.
Murray's Whale Ale (wheat beer)
Monteith's Barber Lager
Bridge Road Brewers Beechworth Pale Ale

I also really like Coopers Vintage Ale out of a glass.
