I'm not that long a voter (voted twice, once in federal), and no I did not know how the technique in the background is working. All I knew I mark my prefs in order. Nobody was able to explain it clearly up to this point.

So is the internet more predominantly populated by lefties? I know we here at ARSE are a fairly small cross section of the Australian public, but Its just made me wonder if there would be a correlation. Only because the debate was clearly won by Rudd according to the twitter feedback when I was watching. Yet 7's worm, and also recent news polls etc are showing Abbott is basically going to shit it in.

I am surprised the Coalition haven't addressed this. They no they have the majority of the Alan Jones listening over 70's market sewn up. And yet they sem to be fluffing the social media side of things.

There's been a bit of discussion latlely that the Liberals have been using "bots" to drive up internet support on popular social media sites. While I doubt it accounts for all or maybe even the majority, there's something underlying at work that doesn't sit right. I'l have to dig up the sites I found that discussed in detail the patterns of Liberal social media in comparison to others but in the mean time, here is one. While it doesn't really increase the numbers that are directly voting, it does increase the advertising influence.
