Resigned or about to?

Gotta love the quote from Assange in the paper today, "From my perspective if something is serious you speak to the party leader about it before you speak to the press."

Did that vote compass thing. Was about where I expected.

64% ALP
60% GRN (or HIP as Jamo pointed out)
47% LNP

Most of my stuff lined up when Labor/Greens had the same view point. Basically Social Liberalism meets centerish economic views.

61% Lib
50% ALP
30% HIP

Seems I'm out the the right with the libs but a bit less conservative

Also they need to have bbq at the polling booth locations!!! Would love a sausage sanga while waiting in line wasting my time

Should change the polling locations to Bunnings stores - would fit in nicely with the Jamo world of commercialisation :D

Looks like I'm leaning towards the Libs according to my results - I think the only Labor policy that is swaying me towards them is the NBN

They usually do. I can't remember the last time I voted when they didn't have something like that outside. Certainly popular in Victoria.

Just a little reminder to those who think voting is a waste of time or that all politicians are scum: democracy isn't perfect but it's the one chance you have to voice your opinion. Don't waste it. History is repleat with examples of societies which have lost that voice and the result is usually too horrible to contemplate. It's a fragile thing. Don't take it for granted.

I have generally found that most people who bag politicians have never bothered to participate. How many here have ever tried to contact their local member? I know lots of people who perpetually bag pollies yet don't even know who their local member is. Bravado won't get the result you want.

At least 5 times that come to mind. Jackie Kelly when I lived at Penrith. Joanna Gash twice since i have lived here. Paul Green twice since I have moved here. With varying success ranging from no response (Gash) to a small win from Paul Green.

Yeah I know you get it norbs. I just hope you inspire others to do the same.

You can still hate politicians but the message is not to abandon your voice and blame them because they don't hear you.

For a while I played touch footy with the local Mayor. He went on to become a state senator on Fred Nile's ticket. He was actually pretty good when O'Farrell was going to stop honoring the solar rebates in NSW. I am opposed to most of his ideals, but at least he heard what I ahd to say and seemed to want to understand.

Joanna Gash on the other hand. Fucking hopeless. She stopped me in the street in Nowra and asked if I had any questions for the then Howard government. Every single thing she deflected. "Oh that's a state matter. That is local." So now she is mayor and I grabbed her last christmas and got in her ear about the so called local matters. Anyone want to guess who's responsibilities they are now? Fark!

I get there first thing in the morning, never had to face a queue and I don't get bothered by anyone at the gates on "how to vote".

I've had quite a few discussions with Belinda Neal who was my soccer coach for a few years as well as John Della Bosca who have ended up being family friends. John's got quite an understanding of issues but Belinda... well, I'll leave it at that. :melt:

LOL - now the Coalition is saying they will buy Indonesian fisherfolks' boats so they won't get sold to people smugglers! Boat-building stimulus package for Indonesia (home to more than 750,000 boats!)! Here's some info on why it might be a little bit crazy...

That's... unbelievable. In every sense. What is worse is the amount of people thinking this will be a genuine idea worth voting for.*

*Read: People will vote based on that idea and not as a whole collection policies.

They reckon they were planning this policy for 4 years, so its definitely not a thought bubble.
