Anonymous pole time. Greens look like they are out of parliament with both parties saying they will not support them with vote deals. Just Hope Family First also get the boot, religious fanatics...

They're both the same side and both don't have any solid policies. I'm donkey voting this year and tutting everyone else when they actually pick someone. It's all just one upmanship and nothing solid is in place. I vote liberal usually, but Abbott is a fucking tool.

Rudd. Even though Abbott will win it now. I'm so amazed someone like him could become PM.

Liberal but with an immense dislike of Abbott the dude is just plain old fashioned weird still I would prefer weirdness to smugness and Krudd is smug personified.

Anyway there all self serving cocksmokers that only do what's best for themselves .

The NBN looks better under Labor but it's pricing is so much more than Adsl2+. No interest or incentive to ever use it unless I was in a black spot.

iinets NBN plans are cheaper than adsl and it'd be 5x faster for me.

For 200GB it's $65 on NBN 25/5, $70 for naked adsl, $80 for adsl+phone.

That's not bad at all.

When the NBN is in place at a certain location, will the old copper cable and services be decommissioned straight away? Or will there be a phase over period?

Sounds like they replace all the existing infrastructure.

From the faq
http://www.nbnco.com.au/faq.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's your choice whether you switch to the NBN, what services you take up and which service provider you use. If you don’t wish to move to the NBN ask your preferred service provider about other options.

However, in the areas where NBN fibre is being installed, it will replace almost all phone lines, ADSL internet, Telstra/Optus cable internet, and some Telstra Velocity fibre services, providing a new fibre optic network for residents to use.

So, when the switch-off of the above lines is announced in your area, you need to switch over to the NBN if you want to keep a landline phone or internet service, or make alternative arrangements for your phone and internet.

The internet is already taking over tv/cable yet because we have such shit infrastructure we get to stream services like iview in glorious 360p or some crap. And too bad if more than one person wants to watch something, or send an email and cause everyone to drop out.

Yeah, it's all about porn

Trouble is if Abbott and his mates get in the broadband will suck as it is direct competition to Foxtel. How many pay TV providers are there in this country? I do subscribe to the service but mostly because my connection speed isn't great. I am ADSL 2+ but this area isn't getting NBN any time soon. There's wireless construction all around Benalla but nothing planned in town. I do watch Foxtel as the free to air is just crap. I live in a safe conservative seat with the so called shadow minister for innovation as our member so no hope of us getting squat unless she's voted out. Even then it looks like a conservative independent is next best. If it wasn't for government spending and infrastructure we'd have nothing here, no money here for private sector projects

I have pretty quick cable and have no issue with all the family doing stuff at once .. Do I want it faster hell yes will one pack of lying fucks deliver it better and faster who knows but I would bet real money either one of them will ditch the plan if they come up short for school or hospital funding.

Bah, scottie doesn't really keep tabs on who's Labor and who's Liberal... I'm just going for Rudd. I think I voted here wrong though... bah, whatever, just let me get back to my daily life. I'll vote for the current dude until he really pisses me off. I don't listen to the election crap.

I suppose we can all rest easily knowing our one token vote won't make a grain of difference to the outcome:)

Well I'd rather saddle it with crippling debt knowing we can download porn substantially faster than saddle it with slightly less crippling debt to download porn at the same speed, then put it into more debt when we need to upgrade again. :faint:

And that's the crux of it - the NBN they're building currently is a 100+ years future-safe infrastructure as far as i know. It requires no maintenance, no power, it's sitting there transferring light. The end points can be upgraded for even greater speed.

However, the alternative is a very expensive stop-gap solution.

Labor here, partly 'cause the NBN partly cause Abbott is such a dickhead, he's unable to think on his feet and he's too much of an idiot even to lie properly. He's not a leader, really just a muppet. :)
