The soft rubbery back is luscious.. I really don't want to put a case on this but I know I should. The buttons are precise and feel well machined. It feels great to hold.

The app pages and menu's snap into place and it feels like the app isn't even breaking into a sweat..

The new launcher is.. Well.. A google launcher.. I've disabled google now and installed Nova launcher already.. It's just "too" google for me..

There we're people on Reddit who'd broken/cracked the screen on day one because they dropped it without a case

Its surprising that they didn't have a few 1000 units in Australia for distribution.

Just had a Google customer survey to fill out as I asked a couple of questions prior to purchase. In the last section about suggestions to improve the experience I put if they shipped my Nexus 5 this week it would improve mine :)

Google has a long way to come in relation to product roll outs. I had to wait a bit more than a month (think it was two months in the end) before I could get my hands on a Nexus 7 2013 in Australia after it went on sale in the US. Luckily I got mine from JB HiFi for cheaper than they ended up going for on the Play store. I managed to pick it up the day before it went on sale on Google Play so I avoided postal hold-ups.

I would be interested to know the amount of stock they had on hand for shipping on release day.

The problem they have is what is the magic number you need to met the unknown demand?

Looking like I'll see it tomorrow, its finally landed in AU, but the sort facility is in Derrimut on the other side of town so not likely to get on a truck and to me any time today, but at least it's not still in Kwung Chaiville or whatever it was called. :D

120km round trip is rather large for just the "Other side of town" :yikes:

I am hoping with the 5 the only reason for an upgrade would be they stop supporting it

18 Months is the lifecycle for official updates from Google for the Nexus range.
