XBMC

Post by NeilPearson »

Hey Guys,

I am currently turning my old/Spare PC into a Media Centre as I am a bit over the WDTV not working properly unless its connected to a network.

I am installing XBMC right this second and I just have a few questions.

How do you control it? Mouse/Keyboard Smart Phone Remote from tv card?

I am thinking about using it for Live TV as I have a PVR atm but if I can have it all in one, would be so much better.

I use windows media centre for PVR, and XBMC For everything else. It'd be nice to use Xbmc for everything, but when I first checked out the PVR function within Xbmc about 12 months ago, it was rubbish so haven't tried since... Would be interesting to see how you go.

As for remotes: I'd suggest doing as I have done and many others: buy a windows media centre compatible remote and USB IR receiver from eBay, and then use the IR receiver with your Logitech harmony (assuming you have one). Works very well.

Cheers guys. Only downside is I don't have internet for a while. Not sure when I am getting it either. I think I'm on a rim as well. Boo all round
