Ok, I am liking it, so I would like to get some idea what it would cost to build a PC based on their recommended specs...

Recommended PC requirements:

OS: Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1
Processor: AMD Six-Core CPU, Intel Quad-Core CPU
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Graphics: DirectX 11 (AMD Radeon HD 7870, Nvidia GeForce GTX 660)
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
Sound Card: Integrated

I have looked at a few places and I really dont know what is what these days. Could someone spec up a system on MSY or any of those online joints that meets that requirement. I am keen to see what it is going to cost me and if I can justify it.

Also, can I run something like that on a dual 19" monitors?

Most of the newer Mobo's can run duel 19in's quite fine.
Some play it safe on the merry-go-round, others go for the thrills of the roller-coaster.

With Flinty's video card?

Went through MSY for mid range stuff. I don't know how AMD compares with nvidia/intel these days.

200 GTX660
243 i5 4670
65 mobo
90 8GB RAM
82 700W PSU
80 case
65 1TB HDD

825

I think Flintys card would be a weak point with AC but you could start there and buy a better card if you need. 500W PSU won't give you much room for doing that.

Ok, so I am buying a system off Righty.

MOBO: Asus P6T Deluxe V2 (This will take 6 core LGA 1366 CPUs if you can find them) $150 http://www.asus.com.au/Motherboards/Int" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... Deluxe_V2/

2 CPUS (LGA 1366 Socket): i7 920 $80 and i7 960 $120 with original CPU fans.

RAM: G.SKILLS DDR3-2000 12GB Tri Channel [Ripjaws] x2 (24gig Total) $150 http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=336" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

GPU: MSI GTX 590 3gig $300 http://au.msi.com/product/vga/N590GTX-P3D3GD5.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

PSU: Antec Signature 850W, like this one http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/psus/2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 850w-psu/1 $150

CASE: NZXT PHANTOM BLACK FULL TOWER $100 This is big, so maybe not ideal for someone not in Sydney. http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/crafted_series/phantom" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think Jason will grab the extra CPU and 12 gig of the RAM.

Any ideas what a motherboard will cost him for the i7 920?

I know Renesis has a Mobo that'll do the job, I'll ask him to post here if he wants to sell it.

I am pretty sure it is this one.. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/produc ... id=3265#ov" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
GA-EX58-UD3R

I will check when I get home, I got it from a close mate who swapped it out for an Asus because the GPU kept not detecting in it.. turned out to be the GPU BIOS required an update because it did it in the new board as well.

I am happy to send it to you to confirm it works before you pay me because I don't have a 1366 CPU to test it with. I will PM you with the price ;)

Is it time to change this topic to... "Help w00dsy build a race sim worthy PC"

by the way my GFX card would get Jason out of trouble to begin with at least until AI & MP come online.

So that would just leave him needing a PSU if he doesn't have an existing one powerful enough.
I am currently using a 600W one of these thanks to Ren. ;)

My PC is just old and shit. I cracked it with my monitor last night after it switched off yet again so I unplugged it and threw it in the bin outside. It was quite cathartic.

Does anyone know where I can get a socket 1366 motherboard? It seems shops don't stock them anymore and the ones that are on eBay are a few hundred dollars. The cheapest I saw on there was $190 for a used one.

My suggestion would be to look & keep & eye out on this OCAU thread. http://forums.overclockers.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I've been able to get a few things there & good deals too. :yes:

Ill get back to you ASAP with confirmation of its condition. Ill run a full suite of memory and cpu tests.
