Game Stock Car & Formula Truck (Rieza Studios)

Post by Duke »

Just bought this after watching a few reviews. Yep call me the sim hoarder. :p
2 sims for AUD$35 with this much content seemed like a good deal to me. ;)
Not sure how much longer the sale lasts but if you're considering it then jump on it asap.

 Pre-setup rFactor.

Not much different if you set up the mods yourself, but it was hard to do if you did not know rFactor, but pushed further then any mod can.

rFactor2 is hyped to much.

Yep I know it's based off the ISI GMotor 2 engine but it's simply not a rF1 mod as they have developed it further especially with this 2013 edition of GSC.
I do like many of the HOF rF1 mods but yes it's a pain to setup each of them individually, I'm sort of hoping I can steal some settings from GSC2013 & import them into other rF1 mods. ;)

I've stayed clear of rF2 for now given the lack of mod support & all the negative talk around it plus USD$85 for a lifetime edition seems a bit steep to me.
I've been meaning to install the demo for a while now but keep putting it off...

Considering it's heavily modded, does it still feel like rFactor though?
Or were they able to alter the physics enough that it stands on it's own?

Don't know yet as I can't try it until at least tonight. From what I have researched it will mostly likely be a highly refined rF1.
One review mentions you could possibly get rF1 close to this but it would take many hours of downloading & tweaking settings & even then it may not come close to GSC2013.
The AI are apparently the best of any sim period. Although let's be honest I doubt it'll come close to $Racing or Assetto Corsa but then they are next gen sims compared to rF1.
I'll report once I have had a play.

Same but different, depending on the way you modded rFactor. Stock rF game was terrible vs the Mods for it.

The physics are great, it is the complete package.

Moddern games are more about eye candy, yes this still shows some of the old styling of rF, Eg. the UI, but the game it fully done backbone.

Always been a fan of Reiza mod team, was a beta tester for them in rfactor.

Wobbly, just curious have you tried other mods in GSC?
If so what & did they work OK?

lol have I not told you how important FOV is. :p

I'd say 450bhp (520bhp using push-2-pass) in a 1320kg car is a monster.

The JL G-09 model as raced by all teams in the series is made of a tubular chassis, covered by fiber glass bodywork shaped as a Chevrolet Sonic or Peugeot 408 car models, both with identical performance. Powered by a V8 engine with 520 HP, 6-speed transmission and total weight rounding up to 1320 kg, the car can reach speeds of up to 270 km/h.

There is more then just that, but that is a start for you.

Beasties they are.

http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/thr ... nts.32429/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Few standard things in here if you are having issues. Default setup is good unlike other games, same as some drivers setups IRL.

If you want the same settings for the IRL Stockcars, 540º wheel setup and change the ingame to 18-22º steering lock(depending on track), biggest difference I can see from IRL not the 12º ingame, maybe the brakes to 100% depending on your style. From that it is almost a clone of the real thing.

270º for Karts.
540º for others.
some like 720º 26 steering lock.

To Mirror your wheel and ingame.

Your install path\GSC2013\UserData\[Yourname]
Controller.ini
Change
Steering Wheel Range="270" // Degrees of rotation of in-game steering wheel
to
Steering Wheel Range="540" // Degrees of rotation of in-game steering wheel
Some play it safe on the merry-go-round, others go for the thrills of the roller-coaster.

Awesome, thanks wobbly.
I loaded it last night & had a very short run around Interlagos in a Stock Car. All I'll say is :wow: they are a handful but so much fun!!!
Like the reviews say it's very polished. The graphics are a step above rF1 & the track graphics in particular rival the SIMBIN Race07 series imho. The AI is really well done, no inadvertent punting you off the road & they also make mistakes that look realistic. So many times I'd look to see a car up my rear bumper but they would take care to pass me realistically. The FFB is probably the best I've felt in any ISI sim, way better then standard rF & possibly just ahead of the last SIMBIN Race07 packs. I guess it is more to do with the fact is comes with it's own tuned RealFeel FFB plugin which I am going to copy the settings into my rF install to see how they go. ;)
Think this will be the sim of choice for some AI action until AC releases AI.

Any other tips, hints or DLC worth getting for this would be appreciated. ;)

OK what is the trick to these Stock Cars???
I read the default sets are close to real for the default tracks but I'm not sure they suit me.
I'm finding 2 things particularly frustrating on both default & add-on tracks.
1. Car bounces particularly over the bumps, seems to be due to being so stiff.
2.They are very low & I think are scrapping the ground which combined with point 1 results in rear wheel lockups & looping around on corner entry.

So do I just tweak the default set & if so how or are there better sets out in the free world?

You could try here, or experiment on the setups to find something which works for you.

http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/for ... setups.83/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

On youtube the cars do look pretty low and stiff so a bit of bouncing/bottoming out is probably normal for them.

Default is close to real settings, before you push hard and start tweaking stuff, just slow down and get to know the car and track layout.

People seem to push the car to hard from the start, start a game with AI and just follow them around, at the start they will pull away most times untill you get used of the track.
