New car - XR6 Ute!

Post by wild »

Been thinking about picking up a ute for a while, much more practical than the Focus for me. Decided to take one for a test drive as Ford currently have a sale on 2013 models, and I was a bit unsure about getting another auto (there were no manuals in the state at all!)

As it turns out, the ZF box in the current Falcons is fantastic, so I went ahead and traded the Focus in on this:

Love it so far! Big step up in quality from my last Falcon ('96 EF sedan)

Nice work dude. Great value and in a few years you won't even be able to buy a new car based ute in Oz.

That step up on the new cars vs ones say 1 years ago is big.

If you haven't had a test drive even if you don't buy just take a drive.

At $29k, it is insane value for money :D

Real shame they're going to stop building these, because the quality is excellent. Much better than the South African built Focus, which wasn't terrible, but did have a few minor quality flaws with the interior panels and a leaky hatch seal.

Just petrol. I'd have bought the Turbo, if they had any in stock and I could get insurance for less than $2k :fall:

Also not necessary. The XR6 has shitloads of power without it. Bordering on too much if you ask me, trying to drive one around in the wet is ridiculous. Or maybe I'm just too used to an AWD now.

You're not having a good run are you  Too much limiter.

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you finally have enough horsepower.

XR6 has shit loads of power without a turbo? I think you must be use to driving awd too much haha

The xr6t puts out about 220-235rwkw which is a bit but not enough to be bad in the rain if you're not driving like a hoon lol

Mostly when you take off, touch the accel and the rear wheels start slipping.

The ford ute I'm driving for work has way to much power. Its crazy. Its just a standard 2012 model.
