May be irrational Contadope hate, but anyone else think it's a bit presumptuous of Saxo to give him a yellow bike ... he ain't in Yellow.

Aren't all the Saxo bikes yellow, blue and black? Apart from one I saw the other night that looked orange.Swain OHaw wrote:May be irrational Contadope hate, but anyone else think it's a bit presumptuous of Saxo to give him a yellow bike ... he ain't in Yellow.

Re: Le Tour De France 2014
I only noticed his being yellow, the others different colours such as the blue and orange but maybe the other yellow bikes had gone by that point. Only been able to watch one stage in full though as I've been at work during the others.

For a non pro cycling site, it certainly has a lot about pro cycling...norbs wrote:Does this mean I have made it?

Jesus. That was a massive chunk out of Berties leg.
It is Nibbles to lose now.
Edit : Fucking hell. Broken tibia, and he got back on and road up a huge hill for kms. Damn.

Fucking hell indeed. First Froome and now Contador. Grande Showdown in the HC mountains cancelled I was so looking forward to it.
Much cycling such kilometers.

I wonder if Richie can hang on to Nibbles? The race could come to him if something happened to Nibbler!

So what's the opinion around here.. specialized frame failure? or something else?
To me, it sounds like something is being covered up.. :/

Re: Le Tour De France 2014
Crazy stage, I went to be as they started the descent for the climb where it all happened
Saw a lot of shit on twitter around this morning, looks like a genuine crash from hands jumping off bars on downhill (we have all had this), he jumped on roach's bike then crashed again..
Snapped bike was apparently from hitting Belkin car trying to pass, but seriously even if it was from crashing from 70km/h why would anyone care if a bike snapped..

I think the concern was that the accident was caused by the frame snapping.nutty wrote:

Nutty has pretty much nailed it from what I have read.
18kms with a fractured tibia. Love him or hate him, you have to give him kudos for guts. That shot of him and Rogers was pretty sad.

Well then, like Nutty said...who would care.
Fark 18kms...cannot imagine the pain.
The tour has been pretty full on so far.

Re: Le Tour De France 2014
These 2 articles pretty much cover exactly what happened. As you will read it was not caused by a broken frame...
http://road.cc/content/news/123757-so-w ... -yesterday
http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-s ... 31225.html
Poor Bertie it never looked good from when we started seeing the TV pictures.
When you read Roche's account of events in that Independant article, Bertie had already ridden a few k's from the scene of the accident when the first live pictures started coming in.
No wonder he didn't look great or in a desperate hurry to get going again, I think he knew it was over but just didn't want to give in or more like he had to prove to that "cock-head" Riis that he was seriously injured. So all up it was probably more like 20km's with a broken leg with most of it up hill.
The way it happened is very easy to get caught out. It has happened to me many times but luckily it has never resulted in a crash. In my cases I have been lucky & able to keep one hand on the bars to keep control but it is very easy to do when in a peloton, unsighted of what is ahead while having one hand off the bars fiddling with stuff in your pockets.

Yep he got schooled & goes to show how hard it is to win a GT. It also puts Cadel's accomplishment in a whole new light, he really is our only GT winner & maybe so for quite a while.

Re: Le Tour De France 2014
last couple of stages have been absolute rippers.
competition for the white and polka dot jerseys seems to be fairly enthusiastic. while i would have loved to see more competition for the yellow, the racing has been pretty impressive IMHO.
