I find myself gravitating to the oldest, slowest planes in RoF - I took the SE5a for a spin the other night, but give me an FE, or a Strutter and I'm happiest.

1C/777 Studios have announced that they're looking at implementing RoF content into the engine they've created for IL2 Sturmovik. This includes DX11 and VR goodness:

Pre-order to be announced first half 2018. I'd expect a 2019 release at the pace they normally move.

Hey Cursed! I was coming here to post that exact thing. Pretty exciting. I can't think of a better sim for VR than a WW1 sim and had given up hope for RoF to be retro-fitted. And IL2's VR application is reputed to be awesome (which I hope to find out in about 2 weeks when i get back in the house).

I've tried IL2's VR quite some time ago and it was pretty good. The only downside at that time was if you had an inauthentic HUD, the overlay used to kill the FPS. That was a long time ago, and they may have addressed that by now.

I have been hanging out for RoF in VR. Planes with only a hand full of controls in VR is a perfect combo.

Tank Crew has my interest. I get's to drives me a Tiger!

No I haven't. I've been playing Armoured Warfare which is modern tanks, missile firing AFV's ect...

A hint of it's power

Any of you do DCS? I've been playing it a fair bit lately on the Through the Inferno server and very tempted to get the Normandy map for some WWII action. Looks amazing but it's pretty pricey. Seems IL-2 would be a better option to scratch that itch. I've got the Mustang but it just doesn't feel right flying it around the modern map

Finally back in the house after the extensions. Fired up Rise of Flight last night after a 7-month hiatus, mostly just to check it still ran. Grabbed a Sopwith One-and-a-half Strutter (early war two-seater) with some bombs and took a free flight. Bombed a boat then stooged over to the part of the map that generates an enemy fighter to dogfight with. Since I'm flying a Strutter, I'm expecting an early war German fighter - maybe an Eindecker or early Albatross. Nope, a Fokker DVII - probably the best German fighter of the late war - spawns.

Well, I figure I'll give it my best shot and try to stay alive for as long as possible. The AI decides to turn fight with me rather than sit above me and boom and zoom me into oblivion, which should have taken two passes. I turn under him a few times, then he's low and slow and my Strutter's tight turn gets me onto his tail where my single .303 messes up his engine and he glides away. An unexpected victory! I'm about to shoot him up as he's gliding, engine dead, onto the grass when the next enemy plane spawns. I turn around, get close enough to see its a Fokker DR1 and figure "nope".

When I reviewed the footage, I was still carrying 4 bombs when i was dogfighting the DVII!

Next up is installing my Oculus Rift!
