GT2014 – Race 4 – Vallelunga

Post by pixelboy »

When we started this series we had hoped that a certain track in the Belgium countryside would be released in time to race there... but that hasn't happened :(

But never fear, the twisty infield of Vallelunga (long) combined with the fast start/finish straight coupled with multiple overtaking spots will provide a challenging penultimate round before we head to the vast expanse of Le Sarth for the decider!

Just did some laps, looked at the WR for the z4 and its a 1.31, my previous best was a 1:38, got down to a 1:35.1, long way to go but hopefully with some work should get down another couple of seconds

Tks for the reminder Shaun, looks like this track should produce close racing between the GT cars based on the WR times.
But looks like the Fezza is only good for Darren. :p

RSR LiveTiming WR's:
BMW M3 GT2 = 1:30.926
BMW Z4 GT3 = 1:31.134
Ferrari 458 Italia Stage 3 = 1:33.886
McLaren MP4/12C GT3 = 1:31.413

Frig!!

I think I'm going to have to ditch the McLaren. It's too much hard work to keep it up the front.

LOL

Yet to decide which car to drive... just under 0.5s in it between the M3 and the McLaren, will have to see which feels more natural around here. The Z4 is meh everywhere lol

Just turned a few laps around this track. Absolutely love it. Those rsr times are approaching ridiculous!! I did a 1:33.4 and that was ringing the neck off it. No way 2 seconds can be found!!

Not too sure about this track but I'll be going the macca this time over the M3 as it just feels better overall here. Haven't done many laps yet but managed a 1.35.1, I can see a low 33 but not sure about anything better.

An interesting track, fast & flowing to tight & twisty.
Managed a 1.33.7 with my Silverstone setup slightly tweaked.
There's still time to be gained in both my driving & some more setup tweaks I feel.
How much I don't know but I aiming to try get a HL into the 32's... :tilt:

It worked OK for my entry mate.

You may want to update the main series page though... ;)

Yep a 32 will push the boundary for me I reckon.

How is everyone finding the bump into Cimini 1? I think I hold my breath going into it & don't breath again until I exit Cimini 2...
I'm also hating the Tornantino hairpin, a good exit there is key but hard to get right without running wide.
Also AC & the STEAM Friends app lets you run quite wide in a few places & still records a valid lap time too. ;)

Personally, I am not having problems with it. Don't know if it is down to set up or just the nature of the car. In regards to Cimini 1 and 2, try taking out a click of front anti roll bar. That seemed to help me out. Also, are you having problems just under brakes or under power as well. If it is under brakes, don't think this will help, but definitely under power; a bit more less responsive so make it a little more predictable... for me anyways.

Also, for the tornantino hairpin, one thing I figured out was to make it a very late apex and when turning in, start from as wide as possible. I wasn't using the entire road going into the entry, Usually 1.5-2 car widths in from the right and always broke out into wheelspin. As soon as I used all the road made it a lot better

With quite a few setup changes on my HL set & using my TrackIR with only the yaw axis activated to look around the tighter corners I've snagged a 1:32.476. Very happy!!! :D
I don't think there is much more time I could gain nor do I think I really need to, so now I'll move onto making a descent stable race set. ;)

Setup is attached for anyone wanting to try it. ;)
It's a 2 Lap Super Soft HL Wonder!!!
Sorry no replay with this one, forgot...

Nice one mate! I'll have to try your setup, not having much luck with the M3 myself...

I've done a complete 180 and am actually loving the Z4 around here! It doesn't seem to bottom out like the M3 and the macca in certain corners, Cimini comes to mind LOL So far down to mid .33 online so no hotlap eligibility. :( The guys on RSR are getting speeds of 264km/h down the straight, low aero seems to gain a huge advantage.

Going to be online for prac if anyone wants to join...

I have now passworded the server for anyone wanting some respectful driving time , its set to 15min qual and a 5 lap race but I usually just restart the qual session before it ends to get more time in.
