New Faith No More!
I'm pretty excited about this. It will be their first album in 18 years (Album of the year in 1997).

They just haven't been the same for me since Jim Martin left. It's a shame he won't go back because they lost a certain dynamic when he left. Still a great band but not the same as the one that first attracted me to them.

Re: New Faith No More!
You old bastard! he hasn't had any input on an album since like Angel Dust. I just read he didn't get much say in that album which is possibly why he left. So that pretty much leaves 'The Real Thing' and 'Introduce yourself'. 'We care a lot' doesn't count. It had no Mike Patton! Although I'll concede 'The Real Thing' is amazing. But my fave FNM albums have come since then. Particularly 'King for a Day'. I believe they had Tre Spruence (sp?) guitarist from Bungle on that album. Genius album.
Either way, apart from his hair, I don't think him leaving took much away.

Woohoo! Angel Dust and King For a Day were the best. Album of the Year was a disappointment for me.

Yeah, you're right. I was surprised actually - when I saw them a few years ago Ashes to Ashes got the biggest singalong.

I like them all, The Real Thing through to Album of the Year, will be interesting to see how this one sounds, 18 years is a long time so I expect it will be pretty different.
I'll finally be going to see them for the first time at Soundwave next year

Started their show at Soundwave Melbourne with a new track Motherfucker, played another new track during the show which sounded alright but it takes me more than one listen to get a feel for a song.

He can do a lot wrong actually. He's a sick f**k when it comes down to it but he also makes some awesome music (and some downright disturbing stuff).SE1Z wrote:Mike Patton can do no wrong.
Finances didn't allow me to make it to Soundwave but I heard lots of negative reports about the sound quality at the Sydney show anyway. Very much looking forward to new FNM!

Re: New Faith No More!
Superhero has been getting a fair bit of airplay on JJJ. Really like it! When I first heard it, I was like... "Is this faith? This is awesome! Show those kids how it's done!"
I had tickets to soundwave... bought them well in advance, nearly a year before the festival. I didn't actually go. Was crazy hot, and I think I was feeling a bit ill. I gave my ticket away in the end. FNM was the only reason I wanted to go anyway. They apparently went off at the melb show.
The new album has been out for a couple of weeks EK. Still yet to pick it up myself.

Yeah I grabbed it but haven't had a good listen yet. From what I have listened to, it doesn't really have a unique sound like the other albums but is still distinctively FNM.

Re: New Faith No More!
Some are saying closest to King for a day, which I think would be fair. It's different to all the rest though, but really, all of them were a fair bit different to each other.

I saw Mr bungle live before seeing FNM. It was certainly an eye opening intro to Mike Patton in person.Enforcer-J wrote:And then there's Mr BungleExar Kun wrote:Yeah I grabbed it but haven't had a good listen yet.
