Driveclub (PS4)

Post by Righteous »

So this is only a couple of weeks away. I'm looking forward to it. It's definitely more arcade than sim, but the eye candy is pretty crazy.

Good part is that if you have a PS+ account then there will be a free version that you can play.

I couldn't find a thread for this one, so hopefully it doesn't exist in the ARSE bowels.

From about 5 mins on in this video is some impressive examples of the dynamic weather. Project CARS looks good in the wet, I'd say this actually looks better. Having said that, CARS is 60fps I think, where as these guys have gone with more bling but a 30fps cap.

7:50ish for wet weather
9:30 ish for snow

"The PS Plus Edition of Driveclub comes with 11 tracks, all based on one location, India. Ten cars will be yours to choose from, along with all the multiplayer modes."

A lot of DLC planned too. Of course.

Had a quick blast of this before work.

It's better handling than Need for speed but not as good as Gran Turismo. They are, unfortunately, added to the long list of developers not prepared for day 1. There is a massive online component to this, but the servers have been down since launch.

It looks great and the handling is OK, I'll sink some time into it for sure.

I didn't realise the weather effects etc would be after launch, which is a shame, but that's something to look forward too.

Let me know if any ARSEs want to start an ARSE club.

It was only 54 bucks so I figured I'd grab it. I think you'll like it. It's good consistent handling and lots of fast flowing tracks.

The lighting is pretty beautiful. I'm really looking forward to the weather patch. The club stuff is the core of what it is about, so hopefully that's up tonight after work.

I should add. The PS4 controller is a bloody wonderful bit of kit. It's actually very easy to have some finese with car control.

Maybe one day they will get wheel support for the G25, but the hand control does a good job.

Well, this has turned into a bit of a saga. The "Club" component of driveclub has essentially not worked since launch. It's starting to get up there on a sim city level.

How on earth they can delay a game 12 months and then still not be ready for all the network traffic is beyond me. Especially considering this is the main draw card of the game.

It's a shame, it's pretty fun to drive, but this is probably going to kill it before it has a chance to take off. There's a very bad vibe about the game now.

Yeh, pretty bad isn't it?
I'm still waiting for the promised PS+ version.

Terrible release for a game that was already delayed..

Well, it's slowly coming around.

It seems to be functioning a lot better now. Weather patch will be available tomorrow and all the features seems to be working most of the time.

I have to say, the photo mode makes for some pretty amazing screenies.

Unless it's heavily discounted AND ppl that originally bought it get some kind of bonus, It's going to tank.

Yeah, that's already happened.

First 2 lots of DLC have been given away free. To compensate those the pre-ordered DLC they are creating 2 extra lots for them.

It will never be what it could have been, but at least now the functionality is there. Definitely worth a bargain bin purchase at some point.

Man, the weather effects are pretty amazing. Easily the best I've ever seen.

This guys driving is pretty horrible, but I suspect he got distracted by the rain moving with the momentum of the car. It rolls left, right, forward back etc depending on the movement of the car.Watch from about the 1:50 mark.
