Sometimes, if you're lucky, and depending on the store, they might build up a bike to your spec using a higher/lower model frame (and so, a different colour). This is probably more true for runout models. Giant use the same frame throughout their range, possibly excepting the team models. Can't hurt to ask

I'm told you can't race with discs though so if I ever wanted to enter a race of somekind without buying another bike it might be best to go with the 2014 anyway.
Or is that just more serious races? Something about too much disparity in stopping speeds.

I've not seen anyone turn up to a road race with disc brakes, so i'll assume that they're not permitted even at Cat 2 level. Not sure about TTs though...
