Lights and Safety

It has become pretty obvious, after only 2 rides, that I need a proper front light.

I've always wanted the Ayup's for running but never wanted to forego the cash, but are they the go here? Or is there something better I should be looking at?

What do you guys run otherwise? I have a decent red rear light but thinking maybe something for the back and/or front of the helmet too?

Anything else for safety, especially around those dusk and dawn times?

I got one off eBay for about $50 that was stupidly bright. That was a couple of years ago so I imagine they are probably brighter and cheaper now. But I don't think you'll have too many issues finding one that lights up the road in front.

Mando, I ran one of these for years.

More than enough power and good battery times. I dont use one now because I couldnt mount it on my aero frame properly. I cant believe how cheap they are now. My first one was $200 and 600 lumen.

Bright coloured jersey and helmet!

I have the one below, only use it on low or medium, high chucks out a crazy amount of light but gets pretty hot doing it.

Mando, I just looked at your morning ride. Nice job.

Try and get some bright jerseys. You dont have to go fluro orange like me, but brighter is better.

Cheers :) Many more to come ha.

I've got a fluro yellow running top that'll do the job for the moment, it's long sleeved and stands out like a beacon. Will keep my eye out for some specials and get a proper jersey at some stage.

Edit - Have orderd some proper nicks too

a bit late to the party, but i'll throw in my 2c..

I have some (older) AyUp lights. They're not cheap as you'd be aware, but they are well made and bright. I'd be hard pressed to fault them. I also like the fact that they're fairly compact, and can be mounted in front of the bar which (IMHO) reduces the clutter in the cockpit.

Another brand i'd recommend is Dinotte, particularly for their rear lights. very very bright.

Thanks CLP, much appreciated. I think when I get my next bike I'll grab a set.
