I think he just bubbled over when the guy reefed his neck, not sure cowardice played a part.

The fan is a dick and shouldn't have gotten up on stage and did what he did in the first place so he deserved the first hit to get him off.

I think it was more out of annoyance/frustration. He actually apologised to the guy and wants to buy him a beer. He realises it was uncalled for. Either way, he's a drug fucked punk with a crook neck... It is what it is. He probably would have done it over.
