It's not all that hard Speed! Just look at lots of pictures and mess about with colours till it looks right!

Some closer up shots of the finished article!

They look fantastic, well done! That Lee Enfield would look good mounted on a wall.

I've been watching some clips by a German cosplay chick and she uses expanding foam to make most of her weapons and armour bits. She makes a cardboard template, covers it in foam and when it goes off she carves to shape.

Your detailing and weathering skills are good. It's something I need to aim for once I start building again.

Very very nice!

I took up making models to teach myself how to weather as I've a 1:35th R/C U-Boat that needs painting!

Little bit more progress with the tank:

It's brilliant. Well done! :)

Did you use putty to replicate the mud? I've done dry brushing and washes to stain in the past but never tried mud and dirt.

Iron fillings mixed with watered down pva glue mixed to a thick paste. once it's dry brush on a rust accelerant and wait for a few hours and you get realistic looking 3D rust on your model! Then i drybrushed over the top of that and did a second layer so you have bubbled flaking paint with rust underneath and penetrating rust!

The mud so far is mostly just a few different shades of brown drybrushed on over the rust textured tank. Once i get the diorama base built up as im painting the mud for it I'll use the same textured paint to put a bit around the tank so it properly blends into the base.

Yeah, that's amazing. I haven't built models in many years but when I was building them I never mastered weathering. It was always just luck if I got it right. But then, there was no internet and it was difficult to come across guides for how to do it. Would love to have the time to get back into it.
