Some very disappointing dismissals today for Australia.

England just played better, the bowlers were far more consistent and effective.

Me bat, bash!!!

I think that might be his thought pattern.

It's been a bloody delight to watch Rogers and Smith. Test batting at its finest.

Mitchell Smith played very well and going through the English top order was icing on the cake so far :)

Oh and as for the Mitchell Smith, so many Mitchell's in the team it's easier to call them all Mitchell :D

Am I the only person who is now screaming for Clarke to pull his ego out of the Selectors' arses and retire?

Average score for his last 9 innings: 19.67 (I highlight this because his last decent score was 10 innings ago)
Average score for his last 10 innings: 30.5
Average score for his last 25 innings: 25.52
Average score for his last 50 innings: 37.1
Average score for his last 100 innings: 44.86

The stat's show that he has scored 1 century in his last 10 innings, 2 centuries in his last 16 innings, 3 centuries in his last 28 innings; with no 50's in between the centuries.

His performance shows a guy that has been in solid decline since early 2013, having scored only 6 centuries and 2 50's since February of 2013.

Clarke's last decent summer was in 2012/2013 (November 2013 to March 2013) when he scored 2 double-centuries, 2 centuries, and 4 50's; but since then he's been a very unreliable performer (5 centuries and one 50 since March 2013).

He was always a fairly average captain, but through the early to middle portions of his career he could be relied upon to fairly consistently put together some decent scores. But now that he has become an average batsman as well as an average captain, I don't understand the merit of retaining him.

Surely he would be better off doing more Swisse commercials and commentating?

For interests sake.... http://www.howstat.com/cricket/Statisti ... yerID=3067

It's a miracle he has had the career he has had. The blokes back is a freaking disaster and has been since he was a lad. I doubt he has ever played First Class Cricket completely free of pain.

But yeah he's done.

The director of our institute sent this round on the mass mail!!

Dear All

Australia 1st Innings 94 for 7 or as the Aussies say 7 for 94.

My lab used to include several Australians but not now.

If there are there any Australians in the building please feel free to drop by.

Best

:D

Hope he's not jumped too soon there!

Where is Nige anyway? Given that Brazengfrica are playing against the Aussies, I thought he would be over this like white on rice.

It seems to me that neither side is terribly good if the results can swing so wildly like this, you also need to be able to perform well in unfavourable or unfamiliar conditions.

Smith was due a shocker. He's approaching a pretty rarefied atmosphere Average wise. Rogers too.

The rest of em, bloody rubbish it's a freakin Test you fools! Dig in and don't swish the bat around like a drunken Errol Flynn.

England's last 6 test results are WLWLWL
If we win this it'll be the first time a team has ever alternated wins and losses for 7 straight games :)

Australia v Pakistan, Hobart 1999. Adam Gilchrist’s second test match – Australia in colossal amounts of poo till Gilly and Justin Langer saved the day. Granted Pakistan were involved so add an asterix but I actually think they were on the level that day.

Australia v England, Edgbaston 2015. Peter Neville’s second test match – Australia in colossal amounts of poo till Neville and……………

Ok yep I’m clutching at straws, well probably three steps beyond clutching at straws but stranger things have happened – Headingly 1981 & Kolkata 2001 for example. Let’s not think that Gilly getting two goldens in that Kolkata match is an omen either.

Clarke: can't bat, can't catch.

It's all over now, I suspect.
