I might need a new handset all of a sudden and I haven't been keeping up with present phones so was after advice.

Have had the LG G3 for a few months. Brilliant phone. Can't fault it. The quick circle case is really cool too

Nexus 5 still seems to be ticking a lot of the boxes for a great pure Android phone.

LG G3 or Nexus 5.

Nexus 5 here. Since the Lollipop update it's even better!

My son got the HTC M8 and it's wickedly fast. The Sony Z3 and LG G3 also seen to be the best of the new ones. Also the Nexus 6 is supposed to be mega but it's huge.

Nexus 5 for me as well, after living with it since the launch there's not a lot more I need from it, if I had a complaint it would be the lack of front facing speakers, but it's been the best experience I've had to date with any smart phone.

My Nexus4 is nearly dead and I'm in the same boat.
For me, it's between a Sony Xperia Z2 or Z3 and a Nexus 5.
All depends on outright cost.

I like my OneM8. Too big and camera a bit average are my only issues. Even the battery has come good - I get 2 days solid use out of it.

Nexus 5 is still the best mobile phone I've had.

I just signed up for a new Xperia Z3 Compact after seeing one yesterday.
Telstra have this new thing called "New phone feel" https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phone ... ne-feeling" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Get a new phone every year
with new phone feeling
Like having the latest smartphone? Then get your new eligible smartphone on an eligible new 24 month handset and mobile plan with New Phone Feeling. After a year, return it in good working order and take up a new eligible phone when you sign up again on a new eligible 24-month handset and mobile plan. Then for a little bit extra each month, you can do it all over again the next year.
The online sales person told me to get it because my last 2 phones have had issues before the 24 months was up. I said I wasnt interested, so she bundled it up in the package. Will keep you informed how that goes.

Rach got onto that as well, she ended up getting the z3 full size for $81 a month with a new phone every year..
Due to working from home, I kinda need an unlimited plan soo im still on boost mobile for $40 a month + buying phones outright, but if it wasnt for that I would be doing that strait up

I got the Z3 compact a few weeks ago. It feels like an iPhone, but with androidy goodness
Its a shiteload faster than my S3, battery life is awesome (can go 2 days without much use and even heavy use I can forget to charge it and still wake up to my alarm) and I can now browse arse in the shower

Re: Best Android handset on the market right now?
I called Optus last week to see if I could get off my GS4 plan early to go on the Xperia Z3 compact. Can't wait to get that phone, but as they said no, and my contract still goes til May 2015, I guess I'll bite my tongue and hope the Z4 compact doesn't increase in size, and gets a 1080p panel!
I still envy you guys though! GS4 is just too big

Re: Best Android handset on the market right now?
I was tossing up between the Z3 compact and the Lg G3.
One is smaller than my old phone and has way more battery life which would be awesome but the other is screen porn.
I went with the G3 because of the screen and the bezel. It's only marginally bigger than my old HTC One but the screen is nearly an inch larger. I put it up against one of the bigger iPhones last night and the iPhone looks so huge even though they have the same screen size. It's such a gorgeous screen I couldn't go past it, it sucked me in at the shops!
I'll probably regret getting such a large phone with such bad battery life but at this point I'm still in love
Thanks for the posts guys, very much appreciated!

Phone has arrived.
Looks great and fits in all my cycling jersey pockets.
Now the pain of setting the bloody thing up.

I doubt their claims of 2 days on battery, but it isnt too shabby. This is using it a lot more than normal because I am still setting it up.

It hasn't been hammered, apart from a few hours of the Coffee app going crazy Sunday morning.

It's so weird seeing a battery stat page without Facebook at the top as the main culprit.

In this case, I think it's more to do with the Z Launcher constantly asking for weather updatespixelboy wrote:I'm just glad Weatherzone isn't on the list! ;-)
