My wife has dropped her S2 the other day - not the first time, but it was a pretty unlucky one.
I've never seen anything like this.

I've ordered a screen replacement kit for the princely sum of $12 (iirc). But the time & skill to replace it is the biggest issue

Is the screen still flat? or are there tiny rough bits.

You could always put a screen protector over it and keep it as a statement

It's pretty flat, and it has a screen protector over it. Knowing our laziness, it'll stay like this (as a statement of course!) for a while.

I had to replace the screen on my HTC One so I just found a video tutorial on YouTube and followed it. As long as your got tiny screwdrivers and a bit of patience you should be ok. Some phones have some glue that might need to be heated slightly to soften it but it's not much, just a light dab here and there to stop things moving around inside.

Ah, I am guessing then it was a cheaper plastic protector, and not some thing like ones from Phantom glass, then.

wow...ok that's a bit worrying. w/o a screen it's worse than with a broken one
