RIP The Simpsons

Post by DexterPunk »

Harry Shearer isn't having his contract renewed. I fail to see how it's meant to continue without him. Not that I've watched it a lot in years. But it still remains one of my fave shows of all times. A bit sad really that it will go down this way. I'd rather have seen them end the show on somewhat of a high.

"Shearer provides voices for Principal Skinner, Kent Brockman, Mr. Burns, Waylon Smithers, Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy, Dr. Hibbert, Lenny Leonard, Otto Mann, Rainier Wolfcastle, Dr. Marvin Monroe and many others."

It hasn't been great for years.. best to end it now, but they'll keep slowly killing it, I'm sure.

Won't be sad to see it go.

It's been stale for years.

I only ever really got into it when it was on Ten around dinner time, but I think they just showed the first 5 seasons over and over again.
Ive watched bits here and there of the newer seasons and still get the same enjoyment out of it. Ive never really lolled much though. Family guy on the other hand. I have laughed so hard ive cried, although some people seem to hate it.

Yeah I can't see the appeal with family guy. Simpsons is on another level of cleverness for me. Each to their own though.

I think they can both be clever but they do it in different ways. I mostly enjoy the simple unexpected absurdities of Family Guy though I admit :)

Simpsons were never the same after the movie I reckon. I enjoy the re-runs of the Simpsons although I find the seasons after the movie very stale and celebrity focus instead of good story lines.

I haven't watched it for years.

It just got two more seasons but not Harry Shearer, it's going to be horrible.

Can they not get another voice actor that sounds the same?
Or does Shearer own the rights to the characters' voice?

Actor(s), they will need more than one :(

I bet it would be hard to replace these guys when they had so many eggs in the one basket.

It's hard to fathom that one person could do so many different voices.

Don't know how many of you have seen this but I love it when they interview the cast like this.
