It's very interesting technically but from what I've seen I'm not sure it'll be much fun to play. What you actually do in the game seems very basic.

I guess it depends on what grows up around it. There might be an aspect of people mapping and documenting the things they find or something.

Yeh, initially I was quite interested. But the more I see of this, I'm actually wondering what the point of it all is?
Seems a bit boring if I'm honest.

Same as Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen really.

My thoughts are the same, Elite was a crash and burn for me, got old very quickly, and I'm not seeing anything in No Man's Sky that makes me want to spend more money on another space sim.

I like the seamless transition to and from atmosphere.

Interactive plants, something that others do not have.

And critters as well.. it is all about the small stuff..

Loads have planets.. but how many have plants and other wildlife.

More like Minecraft, can be used as a resource.

There isn't a point. It's just an open sandbox like minecraft. Explore, gather resources, upgrade your gear, repeat. I guess you could make your ultimate goal to reach the center of the universe but no idea how long that would take.

I guess when people start getting near the center they'll have a better chance of encountering other players.

That's what I was afraid of, Elite held great promise but then just bored the shit out of me in the end, this appears to be no different other than a different graphics style and even less multiplayer. :(

Definitely won't be a day one buy for me, will wait until I see what the mob thinks.

But can you encounter other players? I took it as single player but planets found and visited would be seen as such

You can name planets, living things etc and others will see the name.

It's multiplayer, but there's 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets in the game and the starting point is supposed to be random (though on the outer rim of the galaxy) so it'll be extremely unlikely to encounter other players by chance. Even if you were at the same planet you'd be unlikely to bump into each other.

As even the smallest planets I have seen are still quite big.

Apparently you can. According to the devs, it's unlikely due to the size of the universe, planets and the fact that players have no name/title bar. So you could move within meters of each other and not even realise.

This game sounds so pointless. I did revist that funny name video though haha
