Next month it will be ten years since we came all that way just to see you, and I've been on at you to come this way ever since.w00dsy wrote:The last year or two I've been seriously considering heading over and meeting up with Durbs. It might be time to actually do it.
Former F1 driver Kamui Kobayashi has been confirmed as Alexander Wurz's replacement in the Toyota LMP1 squad for the 2016 season.
Kobayashi will race alongside Mike Conway and Stephane Sarrazin for the 2016 season, as the trio intend to make up for Toyota's lackluster 2015 campaign with the all new TS050 HYBRID car.
Since his last appearance in Formula 1 in 2014 Kobayashi has been keeping sharp by combining a testing role at Toyota with a seat in the Japanese Super Formula series, where he placed 5th overall last season. Meanwhile he came very close to replacing Nakajima for the Le Mans 24 Hours after his fellow countryman recovered from a heavy crash sustained in a practice session for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
Kobayashi has previously raced in the WEC of course, having driven for the Ferrari AF Corse outfit following his dismissal from the Sauber F1 team following the 2012 season.
In addition to announcing Kobayashi's promotion, Toyota also have revealed their new liveries for Toyota GAZOO Racing's various racing endeavors, with the team abandoning their blue liveries in favour of a red, white and black colour scheme
Former F1 duo John Booth and Graeme Lowdon have confirmed the ongoing rumours over their racing future after revealing they intend to enter the LMP2 category in the World Endurance Championship under the Manor name.
Having resigned from the Manor Formula 1 team at the end of last season, many people close to both Booth and Lowdon began to talk of a potential WEC endeavour, and indeed the team will compete in the full WEC season.
Manor will field a Nissan powered Oreca 05 chassis and have already confirmed former Manor Formula 3 driver, Tor Graves, as their first driver.
On the announcement Booth told reporters, "We are delighted to be joining the World Endurance Championship' and that 'the level of competition is very high and we are really looking forward to racing again."
The 2016 WEC season kicks off on April 17.
Staggering ignorance in that statement. Whilst the ACO has commendably resisted the scourge of 'nannification' better than most. To say it has never changed is just utter horseshit. As is the case with all modern Motorsport it is but a pale shadow of its former greatness.BMX Bloke aka Alex Wurz wrote:
