You are right Jimi, GT-3 is so popular now. The money is there and it's a world wide series.
The 5000 series would work but I think it needs a big manufacturer, someone like Dallara with a Ford V8, or even an F1 factory such as Mclaren. It needs to be a multinational series of championships to work, much like superbikes.

Garth Tander will be doing demo laps in the "Super 5000" at Sandown this weekend. There has been a lot of change with the car, as it is now the result of the merging of 2 separate projects. It will now be running a V8Supercars 5.0 litre.
