Minor Home Renovations

Hey guys have just bought my first place (woo) and get the keys on the 1st of August. The house badly needs paint so wondering if anyone has any hints and tips on what paint to use etc and or any techniques to make the job as easy as possible. Just after basic white everywhere. Also good places to buy paint in Adelaide.
Then I want to put a verandah up out the back so wondering if anyone has any hookups or good places to sort that stuff out. Looked at stratco so far but no prices as obviously its hugely dependant to each individual house.
And just any other minor things that I might not even think about... Cheers guys!
