Perlan mission will surf stratospheric waves and conduct atmospheric research.
Glider with pressurised cabin will fly to higher than 88,000 feet to measure upper atmosphere gases and particles; and examine polar stratospheric clouds.
This one is Perlan 2 - Perlan 1 was flown by Fossett a decade ago. Pretty cool stuff - a glider has some benefits over weather balloons for this sort of work.
