ARSE Racing, Zwift style.

So, this has been bouncing around in my head for a while, and had a chat to Hutchy about it today.

We are going to try and run some races, but need some info off you guys first.

What is your 20 minute max power output. Hutchy suggested you can find it on the Zwift PC app when you go to settings. It will look like this.

Image

Use your FTP and then divide by your weight in kg then pick the correct group. (FTP is actually not the same as your 20 minute peak power, so I have made some slight adjustments.)
A: 3.8 W/kg FTP or higher
B: 3.0 W/kg to 3.79 W/kg FTP
C: 2.4 W/kg to 2.99 W/kg FTP
D: Under 2.39W/kg FTP

283/90 = 3.144W/kg is B grade (FFS) for me.

Next up. How does Monday or Tuesday night suit people? Trying to fit everyone is will be hard, but lets try and make it as easy as possible. I am thinking 7:30PM Culburra Beach time for now. At least as a start point.

Looks like it will be B grade for me as well 233/71 = 3.32w/Kg

Monday's would be best for me - keeping Tuesday's free for recovery for HDR :)

Thought I'd be grade F or something, but I scrape into C with 2.47w/Kg. 183 / 74.

I've been trying to get into a 3 ride per week Tue,Thu,weekend schedule, but Monday is fine for me as well.

How about time based handicaps like sailing clubs use, or is that getting too complicated?

For the moment this is the least complicated way to do it......nothing set in concrete just a start point.

Had to recalculate mine....294w/84 = 3.5w/kg.

Had a shot at Kiss race tonight in B grade but had to bail early due to family....https://www.strava.com/activities/67213 ... 6463983569

Got a KOM though.

198/75 = 2.64 W/kg C grade :)

I'm a little surprised it's that high :P

you can also find your FTP if you click on the edit button under your name. though it looks like they just use the standard approximation of 0.95*(20 minute effort)

Im in class F... F for fat fucker, you skinny bastards!

Clicking edit to get the FTP that CLP mentioned above ='s 275 for me.

It also lets you manually enter your FTP in the same place along with max HR? Not really sure what entering either of those does in program?

Gets used for workouts.

Hmm, if my timezone calculations are correct that would be 12:30 my time... could be doable once in a while with some creative 'work from home' planning.

Does anyone believe if I say I'm grade B ? :D

Yeah, thought so.

At this point I'm maybe 50/50 after 2 days of racing already :( I'll jump online once I get home and do a bit of a warm up and see if I can even turn the pedals over in any meaningful way!

I just joined off norbs thinking that would be the easiest way. He said go, so off we went and at the first intersection my guy turned off on a different route

LOL. Sorry Darren. I should have warned you about that. I will put a bit of a procedure together to make it easier. If I could just get my head around fucking FuckBook.

You took 50 seconds off last weeks time! That is a great effort considering your weekend. Well done Carlos. I see Bazza was sniffing around your back wheel. :)

Bazza and I had the <TAZ> group with us, so we had a bit of an opportunity to draft. That said, we more often than not were at the front end of their group :P
