Best sim for pick up or single player?

Whats out there these day that has a active pick up racing community, or decent AI opponents?

Currently playing a bit of iRacing at the moment after a long layoff, and while it is good, its just too serious at the moment and I dont have much time to sit down uninterupted for scheduled races.

Is there anything out there that is like the old LFS days where you could jump online and have a hour of quick 5 lap races, or is there anything that has good AI that are not completely useless?

Automobolista is great for offline play, built on top of rFactor2. There's loads of variation in classes you can drive but it's online side isn't as strong as AC. Norbs is loving rFactor2 at the moment because the AI is awesome.

Assetto Corsa is a good all rounder. The AI are ok and the careers are fun to do but you get the online side of things as well. We do Friday Night Fun in AC too.

AC is your best bet for pickup racing and does a fair enough job at single player although pCARS would be better for that.

Always a few races on the go on PCars.
Given the recent spurt from the console release you can get 6 fields of 6 - 10 most nights.
Also AI is pretty good.
