budget priced graphics card ideas?

Chaps, it looks like my Nvidia 970 has shit itself, I've spent the whole day trying everything to get it working including new drivers, old drivers, new Win10 install, I even bought a new new power supply thinking the old one wasn't feeding it enough juice. Win10 automatically disables it giving an error 43 code saying there's an issue. Error 43 is pretty generic it seems and after trying all solutions it might just be the card is fucked.

So, what is the best bang for the buck card out there that is similar quality?

Best bang for buck is probably to just grab another 970. Got one off a mate for 250 and i only have a single 1080p monitor so it does everything i need easy as

My PC at the moment is pretty much made up of other people's(Flinty, Renz, Norbs) second hand bits and I'm thinking I should probably buy new from now on. Buying second hand is always a bit of a risk.
The GTX 1060 Ti looks ok, a bit quicker than my 970 and about $330 at my local shop.

1060 or 1070 if the budget can stretch. Nothing else really worth looking at.

Edit- if you can find someone selling a 980ti thats still in warranty with receipts that could be a good idea.

That card not in warranty mate?

If you are adamant on buying new then I agree with others here, grab a 1060Ti from MSY. Assuming you're not planning on a HMD anytime soon.

i doubt it, it was Norbs' old card. I had it for 5 months, not sure how long he had it for but i assume it's more than 12 months all up, and i'd imagine these only have a 12 month warranty.

I doubt it to but you never know, some manufacturers have 3 & 5yr warranties. ;)
What brand & model is it?

My gigabyte 1060 runs the CV1 wonderfully. Even everything spec'd to the max in DiRT Rally. Same with War Thunder. Handles the 90Hz with ease. I think it's factory overclocked or some such, but wouldn't expect the difference is huge.

next will be a new motherboard and cpu, but that i7 920 i got off you a few years back is still going strong. I've got 12GB ram, 500GB SSD, new 800w PSU, 2 x 27" monitors.

Is there really much performance to be had from a newer gen i7? Their improvements over the years have been very minimal. Still, I guess there have been quite a few. The bigger gains are probably going to be from the faster mobo bus?

I wouldn't write the card off just yet.

I had that error a little while back on my old, old titan card. The fix I found was to run the card in Linux and kick it back into gear.

I don't know if this is the exact thread, but it's something like this.

https://forums.geforce.com/default/topi ... -error-/3/

I thought my card was fucked too, but after some messing about I got it going again and it has been fine ever since.
